We're expected to be falling into the deep freeze this weekend - -30 or so before wind chill. Definitely need to stock up on cocoa and marshmallows.

Daveny5 you do realize that Huntsville, Alabama is #10 in the U.S. in Phd per city capita. Ever heard of the Saturn or Dealta rockets, or the SR71? maybe NASA? Houston has mission control, while we build the equipment and do the pre-launch before passing it to them for countdown. bet a bunck of ya'll didn't know that the sole of the boot that left the iconic footprint on the moon was made at 3M here in Decatur, Al. Just to name a few.. Don't read much into what you see on tv about us. We see the same BS about you yankee's too. Cept i've been the NYC before and saw for myself it's not all like you hear or read or see on tv. I'm even wearing shoes. But, on your defence, I do have a stockpile of assult weapons and my 6 year old and girlfriend can field strip a M-16. But, I'm the only one that gets to enjoy a good dip of "bakker". ;)

So what is this "science" thing you was talking about? I've read in cosmo something about a scientology. Is it something like that maybe?

Well,, Russell is saying 30 below where he is, and someone said they got 7 feet, so, I guess I'm not going to gripe after all. Now, if the guy who's supposed to plow us out tomorrow don't show up... then I'll be complaining.

I dunno but I reckon there must be some serious hocus pocus going in them there heavens just now, I don't know of anything else that would account for both wit and humour coming from our Daveny, all in a single post too... I do put some store into the scientific marvels of our time but not as much as that! It MUST be a miracle.

Where in Bama specifically? I am originally from LA. Fairhope.
Some people call me Maurice SPLAT Pro lifetime, ADK 6 core 3.6Ghz with 32 GB RAM, SSD 1TB system drive, 3 3TB regular drives for samples, recordings and misc. Behringer X Touch, UAD Apollo Quad. 2 UAD2 Quads PCI (i think - inside the box whatever that is), Console 1. More guitars (40??) and synths (hard and soft) than talent. Zendrum!!!

I tell people I used to be a rocket scientist, though technically I was a missile scientist. Huntsville is a pretty town, but it is way up north. About as far North as you can go without going to Tennessee.

Now, if the guy who's supposed to plow us out tomorrow don't show up... then I'll be complaining. You probably have more room to gripe than we do - we typically have a stretch like this every winter, so even though this is pretty harsh weather, it's not unusual. The jet stream drops south, letting a lot of polar air in, and then the wind kicks up. Since we have a lot of "flat & open," there's not much to slow things down. So, you learn to dress in layers when you need to be outside and stay inside when it's really nasty. It does tend to keep the riff-raff out. And I will take this over hurricanes any day of the week.

space_cowboy that was a good one.. I forgot to mention TVA. we were the first ones to go nuclear for lick-trisity. however, i hear up north they tried it too. Wasn't it where M&M is from or something? 8 mile island or something? hehehehe Redstone is pretty awesome. that whole "downsizing" deal had a few people worried until we reminded them that N.A.S.A. is not sharing the land there by chance.. Redstone Arse-nel is basically hand in hand with the defence and next next next gen. research. Right now they are still expanding from what I hear. but its not like you can just walk up to gate 9 and get a job app. without at least one degree. I had to go through like a min. of 10 year background check and 3 sets of prints, then so many security tests you debate strapping one on yourself just to get it over with. heh After you pass all of that, you get to start all of the classified and confidentiality paperwork to get high enough clearence to use the indoor bathrooms.. heh If you worked in missle defence you know exactly what i mean. heh more paperwork than a mortguage. I saved a nut from a toaster oven off the space station i'm gonna give my little girl when she grown up... They gotta have thier poptarts up there too. lol

X1 Question.. I still cannot get X1 to even load up on my 64 bit. If I did a factory reset and completely started over, what would be the best way to set it up so I could be one of those people that actually get to use it.. I done got hooked on it and I'll be using protools 9 insted of 8.5.3 nuttin aginst old sonar tho. i like 8.5, but my quad core is my new machine and old programs don't belong on it. i'm 98% set in stone i'm gonna get some version of PT in the next week or two. I just started taking a 16 week class on PT, HD last week and it would be a waste of $$ to not have a copy in studio to work along side X1-ish. Do any of yall know much about A.U.? I've always used VST'S but as we know, X1 is not going to support VST3 so I'd like to have some input on the quality of the others. If it would be in my intrest to swap my tonnage of VST's over to RTAS or something of the sort that protools and X1 can both use. I plan to try to master in protools and use x1 to verify the master. but prochannel sounds so dang good i might do an A/B master and see if yall can tell which was protools and which was X1. for kicks and giggles.. i'm sitting here waiting to switch on the flux capasiter and send it back to brand new if its the best thing to do. should I do a whole os re-install or just return to factory? would it be worth it to give both protools and X1 thier own partition of say bout 400gb each? or does it even matter? I have a 1tb internal seagate for programs etc. A seperate 1tb internal seagate for saving prodjects, audio files, samples etc. and a external seagate 1.5 tb for general crap and backups. and i'm going to pick up something either along the lines of an m-box like interface, or get a rack interface for sound. I probbly wont be able to get a controller yet. :( I do have a m-audio keystation 88 though. but I wanna wait till I can afford something cool with motorized faders before i just grab something for the he!! of it. I have been eyeballing a new rack compressor insted of the midi controller. I can also, always use more ref. mons. but those are pending what change I have left. Please give me some good honest opinions before i go pushin buttons heh. I won't have my $ in order till 1or 2 more weeks. but it should all be cleared by then.. wanna start feb. out right. ohhh and i'm DEFF. GETTING THE iZotope STUDDER EDIT.. that lil sucker is niiice for the $$. Anything iZotope is worth it to me.

One of my coworkers was temporarily reassigned to BF for a couple of months. I was only there during a summer internship for a couple of summers (EE). but I understand about the expenses! I had 3 kids when I graduated with an EE!
