how to do a skipping effect?

If anyone can help me out that would be awesome! i am trying to do an effect that i dont know the name of, i just call it skipping. For example,  in the video below at  0:39 they say "g,g,g,gget"  and  they say "dru,u,u,u,nk" at 1:01.  anybody know?

I do this manually, cut the clip at the point where you want to do it, then copy that note however many times you want it to be said. So for example the word 'Get', copy the word in its entirety once, then cut the first clip down to just the beginning of the word, so in this case 'g' or even 'ge'.
I hope this helps, I find by doing it this way you have complete control over it, as oppose to some plug-ins.

    Yep... what he said ^^^^^^

I also used this same technique to create an echo of an ending word.... split-split-copy-paste... paste as many as needed, and use a volume envelope to lower the level each time.

VERY IMPORTANT ADVICE>>>>  Put them in a new track also.... so you can mute it out (or delete it)  if you think it's not working as brilliantly as you thought at first. That way, you're not screwing with your original track.

Just zoom in as close a needed to get precise drag & drop placement.

Wow 26 years and still going strong: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3LdMAqUMnM

It was even parodied at the time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAIOzM7SsMo

Yeah, you can 'cheat' and cut the sample up on the arrange page. Or you can man up and do it proper oldskool. Load the word, phrase or sylable you want to 'stutter' in to a sampler and p-p-p-play it on your k-k-k-keyboard

    ;-)

If you want to get ahead of the game you should check out some early nineties UK jungle and nail the classic Wwwwhhhhhaaaattttt tttttthhhhhheeeee tttittiiiiimmmmeeee yyyyyyooooouuuu hhhhhhaaaavvvvveeeeeee ddddddrrrrrreeeeeeeaaaaaddddd http://www.youtube.com/wa...JU&feature=related

The only real problem I've ever had with it is that I'm a bit of an old school Prog Rocker - and there ain't much call for stuttering Fx

Note to self - expand your musical palette.

or you could select all the clips and mute them... thats what I do anyway
