Sonar is not properly installed??? What?

I've been using Sonar X1 (64-bit) all week and not having any problems. Today I go to start it and it says: "Sonar is not properly installed. Please install it using your original CD. (Code=1). I tried reinstalling over the current install and that didn't work.

What's up with that?

    Hi Dave-

Try right-clicking on the exe and "Run as administrator", or click on Properties and change it permanently there.

I & others had this same problem with 8.5.3 after installing the S1 demo (see the Software Forum, "Losing regs..." thread) -- did you install that or the Artists version, by any chance?

Oh no! So many users are experiencing issues with this new release. It's getting scary. Oh, I hope I don't start having big problems.

Does a system restore fix the problem?

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, SUSAN!!!

Run as administrator did it. I think raised the stupid Windows User Account Control setting up one notch because I was having trouble with Google Chrome crashing and that may have caused it.

Whew! I was about ready to burst into flames.

I had this happen as well.  The following should get things back to normal for you.

Navigate to C:\ProgramData\  UAC will probably put up a dialog that you don't have the correct permissions to view the directory, click continue to get the rights, open the \Identities folder and the folder inside it (You'll probably get the UAC prompt again).  You can close Explorer now and try and run Sonar it should work again without needing Run As...

This situation happened with Sonar 8.5.3 after I installed Studio One as well..

I'm happy to report the fixed worked.

I still find it disappointing that loading other apps has the potential to mess with ones that are currently on one's setup..

That's pretty much the whole reason why I added a new SSD with Win7 on it, so that I could leave my XP drive as is...

Kinda frustrating that the issue has already arisen in my new operating environment... but oh well
