Drum solo on youtube

Did this one about a month ago. Recorded with sonar and a camera then transfered audio from sonar by importing the vid, aligning the sound to the video and getting rid of the camera sound.

Added some compression and verb. See what you think about the sound of the drums!!!

Mics are sennheiser, audix and rodes...

Peace!!

yea, but can you play a Beet....:)
    Just kidding. Great stuff Phil.
You have a real nice touch and the kit sounds fantastic. Actually, perfect But, Personally, I would've liked to hear a little more kik. I particularly like the hat sound/frequencies. Need some tracks?

I'm not a drummer so can't comment too much but I enjoyed your playing man. You have a great light touch but without being weak at all. Really liked the sound of the cymbals and hats particularly, not too offensive in the treble frequencies.

As personal preference I like a bigger snare sound (reverb and the like) but most drummers I have worked with usually tell me off, saying I'm stuck in the 80s haha.

Great stuff though man, you surely must be in a fusion band of some kind?
Did you write this or just jamming?

I hate drummers. Because I can't understand how you do what you do. I could never, "in 100 years" be able to do that.

Thanks to the many that have viewed the video and thanks to those that replied!

Rhyno - Thanks for watching and the kind words!!

Tim - Will do on the kik!! Thanks for commenting!! I am always up for something, why you got tracks you need drums on??

Adji - Thanks for the listen and the comments. It is made up and not a part of any song..I had just put on new heads and was plinking around. Yes I play in a fusion rock/metal band(s). Here's a prog ditti where we switch from different styles of music, Rock, funk, reggae. This is unrehearsed, we just said, hey four bars of this to four bars of that to the next...I also posted a link to a prog jam influenced by King crimson. Again, a jam turned into a video.

Next is the first version of "aftermath" title cut to our second cd. This was a jam we decided to complete as a full song!! Gives you an idea of where our thoughts are!! Twisted!!

What's funny? Is when I used to play in a band as a kid, I would rag on our drummer :-) I'd say or you just don't understand, you're just banging on those things? You don't have to understand music theory, chord structure, relative majors and minors, scales, etc... It's just banging on them? Well little did I understand, that "how" you bang on them can either make or break the music? LOL! Now that I do my own music, and have to "try" to write my own drum parts? I now have a true respect for drummers... A deep and abiding respect, especially for someone with a mastery of the instrument as you clearly possess. And I think they're born, not made.

I think the drums need to come up a little in the mix

I'm amazed the recording quality.  Nice work and the tone is amazing!

Daryl - Thanks for the kind words!! My ultimate goal as a drummer is to get a sound I am proud of and its an on going battle as with any instrument.

I think I am getting close to what I wanted to achieve!!

DJSur - Thanks for taking the time to watch/listen!!! While I am trying to get better at mixing skills, I still don't have the same level of proficiency as I do behind the kit!!

    Peace Guys!!
