Brass Ball

This is my first piece of the new year and I am glad I made an early copy of the Sonar file. I spent this past week working on it diligently which completely screwed it up. Today I finally threw out the new version and went back to the original, did a couple of tweaks and here it is.

    100! You did it!! Hit the century mark! Congratulations, that's quite an accomplishment. I know how maddening it can be to sit "for hours" working on something and then end up with something that's not as good as when you started? VERY frustrating! I liked when the horns came in at 1:25.

    I have about half of my compositions posted on that website. The others are stored in many other places. That site tops out at 100 so I take some down and pass them around to keep 99 bottles of beer on the wall.

    hey, you should create Ronald Ferguson I/Ronald Ferguson II profiles so you can have everything loaded!

    anyhow Happy New Year Ron, i was just thinking the other day not heard from you for a while.
    OK the brass is the glory of this piece; the sound of the samples are very realistic, which helps to bring out the great scoring.

    but too short! just got settled in and bang, it's over. any plans for a longer opus?

    That is sick!! got goose bumps on that one!!! The synth work is amazing!!! Orchestration is top notch!!

    Ah finally (after caffeinated clicking on your site)

    ... quite lush actually ... reverbs and panoramic echoes ... seemingly enhanced at the end.  Yet, the timbres do not seem drowned at all, but perfectly tamed.

    The horn farts, thankfully, 'velocity-advance' out of their lush-chambers towards the end.

    I'd suppose orchestra has become an utmost passion as all your pieces are devoutly orchestral, to my crony ears ... and there seems to be no signs of your backsliding to other genre worlds (at this time).

    May I ask: What reverb(s) and/or delay(s) you are using ... and on which instruments (if you remember).

    In Sum:

    A bit icy, but sensitively woven/mixed ... and 'beckoning' (to my itchy ears). 

    Top-shelf orchestral stuff here.
