Welcome. Go to my web site and read the page on recording and pay attention to the part on how to create your own drum track in MC.

The most basic (free)  way is to write a track a measure at a time in PRV or Staff view. (I like staff view)  It's not as difficult as it might sound since drums generally play the same thing keeping the beat and variate it on breaks and choruses. Write one measure and use copy/paste to create more. Insert TTS to play the drums.

A better way is>>>>>> Session Drummer  Regular price $80 on sale now for $10!!!!!!

If you have session drummer from Cake: this is a bit easier since you select preset patterns and simply drag them in to the track and mix and match patterns to create a drum track. Select from a number of sampled drum sounds and kits....even create your own custom kit if you want.

very easy AND...for a measly $10 on a download and you have the answer to the problem. BTW: it normally sells for $80 and cake is subject to raise the price without warning back to it's retail price....

It's a no brainer for people just getting started and wanting a nice drummer.

oooooooorrrrrrr! you could go to Rayzoon.com and purchase a program called jamstix and that stinker will write custom drum tracks all day long for you and it plays nice with MC5.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

Sorry to hijack the post. How do you drag preset tracks from session drummer on to a track. I am struggling with drum stuff too. I bought maschine drum selection for some sounds I liked, and I cannot fathom how to work the drum sequencer that comes with that either. Thanks

Cenobite  watch this video>>>> Session Drummer Tutorial  this is from Cake. Watch it all.... but,  It starts talking about adding SD to a new song at 3:30 and how to drag the midi patterns to the midi track.  You simply have the midi track showing, select the pattern you want to drag, (audition it in SD) and click the music note icon and drag it to the track......waaa laaa, you have a midi pattern.... watch the video closely to see the details.  This is so easy....and this thing is so versatile, and for only $10 its a freaking no brainer deal.

Robo... yeah ... you know that I love Jamstix, but that program is much more than Session Drummer.

Cenobite ,,,, ..... essentially you click on the music note and then switch to your track view and paste it in there if IIRC.

:) Thanks very much, that is a great tutorial, that is exactly what I want to do. I never clicked the note so I was always getting the file folders opening instead.

I recall asking that too because I wanted to make a few tutorials once upon a time.... the software wasn't free and I really didn't want to spend the money or time with it.

Just googled and found this freeby>>> Hyper-Cam  I haven;t checked it out so if you're interested, you can do that and report back.

It really very nice tips. The goal is to build a drum track for a song in the same time it would take to buy a bunch of loops to find the right one. This method works in the sequencer MIDI domain. Because we use noon, no sound, we do not mess with time stretching and beat slicing or any of that.
