Which will hit first--The "Big One" superstorm or the "Big One" earthquake?  Maybe the Mayans were right.

Somehow that seems like a back-handed compliment.

@Old55 - Were you in Cali back when we were going to fall into the ocean? How'd that work out?

Been here since '83--almost to the day.  So far, so good.  I just hope the superstorm doesn't show up in an El Nino year--THAT would be trouble.

Was that when everyone in CA thought the eastern seaboard was going to fall off first?

It was a mega tsunami triggered by a massive landslide somehwere on the other side of the Atlantic IIRC.

And don't forget the Yellowstone caldera either!

What was the date of that article? And what date is the superstorm supposed to hit California? Another thought: a superstorm like that could cause an earthquake which is gathering force already.

If Yellowstone blows DON'T PANIC, at near ground-zero according to the 2012 movie a rusty old RV can easily out gun it....

..... so can we.  All aboard!  Next stop, Woodstock!

    Hi Craig,

Unfortunately it's a hoax, or rather something which has been exaggerated by certain media.

Found that out about five minutes after I'd started the thread, the second article I posted explains
    better what's (not) happening.

Unfortuntately the thread seems to have taken on a life of it's own, and with the Mayans involved
    anything could happen

I did - actually, they held the door open for Chuck Norris while he punched the asteroids back into space.
