Need help: Korg Kontrol 49 Keyboard connected, but no control in Sonar.

So I've used this Korg KONTROL 49 with Reason (set up is easier than learning how to have sex I might add), and I've used it with older versions of Sonar, but I can't seem to get it to work in 8.5 and have someone coming over in an hour to use it!

This is a problem!

My system was freshly re-installed from Vista up.  Sonar works fine.  Loading and using virtual instruments work fine (using piano roll for input).  Now I want to use my Kontrol 49 Keyboard to control Dimension LE, so I went to "Options/MIDI Devices" made sure Kontrol 49 is there and is checked.  It is.

- Went to "Options/Control Surfaces" and checked the "Add new Controller/Surface" button.  Kontrol 49 does not show up on "Controller/Surface" drop down.  So I select "ACT MIDI Controller" (and also added another selecting "Cakewalk Generic Surface").  "Input & Output ports" both set to KONTROL49, but I'm not using those anyway.  Click OK, close dialog.

- I go to my MIDI track (already setup with virtual instrument Dimension LE with output set to Audio track.  I use the Piano Roll).  Sound.  I push keys on my KONTROL49, no sound.

- In the WAI on the left, I right click, choose "MOVE ACT MIDI controller here" to my MIDI track.  Track is armed.  Input ECHO is "On."  Press keys on KONTROL 49.  Still no Sound.

Can anyone help me out here?  A search of the help, google and the forum has shed no light on the subject so far.

If the Kontrol 49 isn't even showing up in the MIDI Devices dialog, then maybe Windows isn't even seeing it.  Are you certain you installed the driver?

BTW, I've always had an interest in the Kontrol 49 but never owned one; it's a nice little controller.

You add an ACT device and set the I/O to the KORG. In the ACT device you have three seperate remote controll choices. Have not worked them out completely. But I will. I assume all three have a seperate function for PADS, KEYS and KNOBS/SLIDERS.

I don't have a Kontrol49, but I have a number of other Korg devices. Usually, after installing the driver from the CD (or DVD), you then have to run another program which you'll fin in the "Korg" sub-menu on your start button. I can't think what it's called at the moment and I'm not at my DAW right now, but it's along the lines of "Add Instrument" or "Add Device."

Anyway, when you run this, you'll be presented with a dialog box with a list of all the Korg products you have installed. Highlight Kontrol49 and click (again memory lapse!) Install or Add. Now Windows and Sonar will be able to see the Kontrol49. If Sonar was running while you did all this, you'll need to close down and reopen it.
    Hope this helps!

EDIT: The program I'm talking about is called "Install Korg USB-MIDI Device" and you'll find it in Start Menu/All Programs/Korg/Korg USB-Midi Driver Tools. Open the program, click the name of your device (i.e. Kontrol49) to highlight it, and finally click Install. Job done!
