Die My Bride (Murderdolls Cover)

This is a cover of Die My Bride by the Murderdolls, or Frankenstein Drag Queens depending on how you want to interpret it.  I didn't change a lot from the original.  I'm still trying to get a firm grasp on Sonar before stepping into some original tracks.  Any critiques on the mix are more than welcome.  The kick is intentionally a little loud since it flies solo a lot.   Thanks for listening.

Edit* I suppose I should supply a link huh?

hey dude. pretty good start here sir! mix is very good level wise, yeah kick is a touch forward, what you using for drums? the velocity on each hit could be a little different, that'd make it sound a bit more natural. but voice and guitar are well done...like the chorus on the piano in the intro. a bit more work on getting a realistic drum and bass part would be the icing on the cake, but yeah, nice one!

Hey thanks.  I'm using Steven Slate drums, but I set them all up in the Piano Roll View.  How much does the velocity tend to differ between hits?  I have some really slight changes (95-110), but I didn't want it to sound like the drums were inconsistent. Thanks for the response.

cool i use Steven Slate too, you using kontakt player 4 with it? this has the round robin feature to avoid that 'machine gun' sound - FWIW i use the step sequencer in sonar to programme my drums, and velocity varies between 70 -110 depending on what it is, but say for kick i tend to draw in a slight velocity change. however i feel the K4 feature is the main one to sort out velocity changes. btw, i also send drum tracks to drum buss with compressor/tape sim, and i pan the drums in sonar.

Yeah I'm using the SS drums through Kontakt 4.  I am going to have to check out that round robin that you speak of this weekend.  I'm using a compression setting through Pro-channel that I really like.  I see on your soundclick page that you have a Washburn 200 Pro.  I have one of those too.  What a great guitar for the price.

yep totally the x200 is amazing for £200! more now but for the pups alone are worth £120...

sounds like you have the SSdrums sorted, the round robin thing is inbuilt to avoid the same sample twice, was in Kontakt from 3.5 on. not got x1 so no prochannel, i use Nomad Factory Magnetic mainly on drums. anyhow, keep on here dude, with some original stuff!
