OT - some of our tunes on a soundtrack!

A guy called William Warren approached Larry and myself about using some of our music for a film he was putting together about the Buffalo River, Arkansas. He ended up using several of our tun es, including 'Dead Man's Stare', 'Cara' and 'Running from Shadows'

It's a beautifully shot and edited documentary/travelogue, and if you have the time (34 mins), it's all on YouTube here;

Wow!  This is ballad-like and the music supports the *lead voc* (narrator) talking about the Buffalo river.

He (the lead voc) adds some orchestral charm (yours?).

Great banjo (banjo-like) playing that transforms into rhythmic cosmic dancing of music ... celebrating the magical nature here.

'Well I got through 10 minutes (where the music is sweetly climatic) ... and now I hope to adventure venturing the Buffalo River ... after winter

That is REALLY cool, congratulations. I got an offer from Guantanamo Bay? They want to blare my music over the PA as a passive form of torture :-(

Guys, Congratulations.  I watched this at lunch today.  There is some beautiful scenery in that vid, and, of course, the SMB music was just great and fit in perfectly.  And we knew them when....

I told you one day Narada would call on you guys.  I saw a special on Wayne Grantz.  He just has a home studio like the rest of us.

Congratulations guys.  Well deserved and this is very cool.   I was in a movie once, but I never played music for a movie.  (Actually it was a documentary)/

Really nice guys!  Do you know how he found you?

This is very cool...they did a good job of matching your music to the
    different sections/moods of the video.

Couldn't happen to more deserving people.

That was really cool. All of the music was thoughtfully selected, and you guys are well represented.
It's funny, your tunes have conjured up just these images, and here they are, set as part of the soundtrack to the real deal.
I can only imagine what was going through Warren's head when he first heard your songs. What a perfect fit.
    Congrats, James and Larry.

Just wanted to say "Thanks" to all for the comments (even if you couldn't watch the vid).

Many thanks once again to Scotty for his contributing fiddle skills on 'Running From Shadows' too!

This wasn't a 'paying gig' by any means. These songs have been sitting on SoundClick for a good part of last year (2010) and not too long ago a gent (William Warren) sent us an email asking permission to use a few of SMB's tunes for a documentary he was putting together about the Buffalo River and his kayak adventures on it, including a bit of history as well.

The only conditions James & I stated were that he mention SMB in the credits. William had put this on DVD (including a Blue-Ray disc) and sent us a couple. It was very impressive to see/hear this on hi-def, flat panel/surround tv system!! Mr. Warren kept us posted during the whole process asking for feedback as the project progressed..a true gentleman!!

I just wanted to thank William for considering/using SMB as well and it was a privilege to be part of this project. Hopefully more will follow!

He really did an excellent job putting this all together, and in a very professional manner. Gotta give credit where credit is due!

All I know is that this was a thrill to even get this far and have fun doing it..I gotta go do the dishes now and clean out the cat litter boxes before the wife gets home...and shovel more snow too.....

I've got my calculator out now Scotty..let's see..SMB got paid $0.00...so..10% of nothing is -$10.00.

When the Buffalo River T-shirts become available you'll be sure to get a lime-green one. Will a petite size be acceptable??
