Audio Dropouts!!! in Sonar LE 8.5.1.17 (New-b) ------ audio dropout fixed

I need some serious help!!! I'm a singer/songwriter and I'm using a home setup for demoing purposes. I have no clue what I'm doing because I'm usually on the other end of the microphone, not the tech side.

I'm running Sonar 8.5 on my HP ProBook 4420s. I have an i3 core processor, running Windows 7 (32-bit) with 2GB of RAM at 2.27 GHz. The mic I'm using is an AKG Perception 120, and have it running through my UA-25EX interface. I've installed ASIO4all, so my interface is using that driver IN and OUT (Buffer size is 512), according to my audio settings. I was at 256 but that wasn't working either. Anyone with and knowledge in this matter, please chime in. I'm going nuts trying to resolves. 2 hrs of searching, and I can't even record one line without the audio dropping out!!

First thing to try is dl ASIO drivers, AFAIK there are such for UA-25EX. ASIO4ALL is not at all the same as ASIO, it's a WDM-wrapper for souncards that can not use ASIO.

Secondly: What is your latency set to? You can usually multitrack fluently if the latency is below 12 ms (below 5 ms is ideal), so you don't need to get it ultra-low, like 2 ms.

    What bitrate and sampling rate are you using - 44,1 Khz/16 bit - 48 Khz/24 ???

And just to verify: These are dropouts - not other kind of crackling? You get the red DROPOUT-alarm text in the lower task bar?

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Thanks for the response. My sampling rate is 44.1. The reported ASIO latency is 12.3 IN/OUT at 544 msec. The mixing latency says 11.6/512 msec. Literally when I try to record the audio starts to drop out on both the track and vocal. Strangely I haven't gotten the red error "dropout". I was intially getting that a few weeks ago when I was trying to use the samson c01, so I decided to get a condenser mic because I knew that I needed on for the interface and there was a conflicting issue on the drivers. That little bit I know, but I can't seem to find the issue.

I also changed the playback, and recording I/O under the advanced tab of the audio options to 512 on the buffer options for each. Not sure what that does differently, but I had to see. I will download the the driver you recommended and see if it changes. If you need more info on my setting, let me know.Thanks.

I just realized that link is just for the ua-25ex driver. I already have that installed. I tried to install the ASIO driver and it wont let me. It keeps saying that it timed out..

I uninstalled asio4all, and used the asio driver that came with hardware and it fixed it immediately. THANK YOU! I was about to lose it. But..... now I'm having an issue with pops, and crackles as I've seen many people post about. Is there any way to resolve this so I can be fully off the ground?
