It's Time To Go Home (Second Take)
I've always liked this. I know it needs more direction and a turn in the chords and such. Either way I think it was or is probably one of my best. It was one of those things where I just played and didn't think about nothing. A very rare thing as I'm sure most of you guitar players know what I'm talking about, where you become the instrument. This is a sad song, but probably one of my best. I hope you like it, If not that's cool, I understand. If you feel you can mix or do better, let me know and I'll send you the master tracks for a collaboration. I use MC5, and pod farm vst. Either way, thanks for taking the time! Very nice! I douibt that I could improve this mix. It all sounds good to my ears. It could use a melody line either on an instrument or vocally. I love the photo on the page too.

Thanks Scotty, I think you would agree this tune is not my normal type or style of music. I guess that's why I like it, but at the same time I don't know what else to do with it. Bobby

And a tool? So I must have some pretty useful qualities (that's how I look at it?) I like what I hear in my left here, and I like what I hear in my right ear 80% of the time, there are some places I would make some changes, but they're in the minority. This isn't what I expected when I clicked the link. But it's too long, needs words and a melody.

If you could find a decent collaborator, much of this would be quite a nice foundation for a song.

What I really meant was there have been a few times when I played along with a song and didn't think about nothing, LOL, I don't mean being wasted either, I just mean it was a great escape from the days woes. Your right it's way too long, heck, I honestly can't listen to the whole thing myself now, but I can't figure out why everything I'm doing now is 7-9 minutes long. It's strange, I went from not being able to complete 2-3 minutes to going overboard. LOL, I guess I've learned a lot more since then and just can't figure out what I wanna keep or throw away. I guess I need to spend more time on it and make the hard choices as to what to keep and what not to keep. Thanks again, Bobby

Honestly, I have an idea but I don't think I could pull it off myself. It's like watching a video with sounds but not having the film to show what's going on. Thanks again, Bobby

hello, i liked the feel and mood of your song. one of the things that stood out to my ears was that you had the guitar tracks panned for separation, but the tone of each was very similar and the finger picking of the rhythm sometimes mingled a lot in the same tonal space with the lead. one option that i would explore would be to try playing your rhythm with strummed chords and with a bit of a separate tone from that of the lead. you can also place an acoustic finger pick track blended with the strummed rhythm. you may end up with an added dimension to the sound. just my initial impression of an already nice song. good job. edit: clearer description

Thank you, BTW: I love the avy! That's cool! Is that your cat or something you found or just created there? Just wondering. I can't play guitar right now, hopefully it's only for a short while, all I've been able to do is get bored being on the internet using the PC, or watching TV, or just fool around with stuff I've done in the past. You said finger picking, thanks, that's what I was going for with the sound. I do finger pick some but on this one I didn't. Maybe it's a method thing, not sure. I mostly moved my 5 way toggle switch to use the middle pickup, and perhaps it was the sound and method. I was thinking about just remixing this and removing both guitars and posting it that way. Not sure yet though. Either way thank you for taking the time to listen and reply, and I will keep your comments in mind when trying to go forward with this hopefully someday song. Thanks again, Bobby

Nice song Bobby. The only thing I picked up on, is on my crappy built-in laptop speakers, the snare really stands out. Haven't listened to it on my good monitors yet.

I like the mood of this especially at the beginning and the end. The mix sounds pretty good on my laptop. I think you have a good basis here, just needs to be finished into something more structured / focused. Maybe a bit on the long side too, but it's certainly worth persevering with.

Really nice Bobby. Actually, that was the thought I had at work tonight at about 9:30 when I knew the roads would be covered with snow and a chill that the bones could barely imagine. It was like -5 Degrees this morning. Now it's really nice to be home. Great work and really nice mix! Keep 'em coming!

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to reply. Not sure what this was. I really like this tune, strangely though, I can do something like this all day long. Is it a roll with the punches type of thing, or just a flow with the feeling thing? I dunno. I just know I am taking a break as of now, I am not allowed to play guitar for a while because It's bad for me because when I start playing my old fart 80's guitar music it get's me riled up and isn't that good for my heart at this time. Thanks for all the kind replies, God Bless you all! Bobby

Hey, Bobby, This is really a great, well performed, very relaxing piece of music! You've also got an excellent sounding, clean and wide mix. The clean guitar tones are perfect for the song and the synth pad fills in the background nicely. Very nice work, buddy, have a good one! Bob

Bob I was thinking about removing the guitar on the right and just cloning the guitar on the left, making it the guitar on the right also. Then adding vocals and more or less picking and choosing which lead guitar parts I have for the other track on the right "CENTERED" left to add? Not sure if I explained that right. I tried I can't do much else right now. Bobby

Very relaxing and peaceful for a sad song. I like the atmosphere. A simple drum beat, strings and the guitar on the left. I would put the lead more towards the middle. Then you will need something on the right. Very nice guitar tones! It is a long song, but it did not drag because of the beautiful atmosphere. Few timing issues on the guitar.

Well Bobby, this is a bit of a change of pace for you, and a nice one at that. Pretty song, and nicely played as always. I think the drums could have been a bit more varied, but that's understandable if this is a WIP. My suggestions would be to try and flesh out at least one verse/chorus worth of vocal melody and lyrics, check around the forum for people who fit that style of vocal/writing and send them a message and mp3 with a query to collaborate. Just my thoughts, but if you do nothing else with it, it's a good listen just as is.

Snare is a little forward and the HH disappears behind it drummers tend to hit the HH a little harder when hitting the snare JMO.

ruralrocker2010 almost and updated CCR kind of sound...pretty cool. I quoted your message not to flame on your thoughts, but to say "WOW MAN!" I am a huge CCR fan, but I only play a few chords of their songs. I don't do cover tunes anymore, not that I ever done many to begin with. But I'm surprised that you could hear the influence in there. COOL! THANKS! I like every song by CCR! Hopefully I can get my health back to playing some Serious Noize soon, give me a bit of time a month or so hopefully, we shall see. I know when I play guitar I get a bit anxious, at least I know now where my bad timing is coming from, not to mention my song post before anything is finished the right way. Thanks Josh, Bobby

Vechung - Thank you for the kind comments. It's kinda experimental for me, maybe not for most, or that is I should say kinda different but new for a change. I just went for it and that's where the timing issue's came from. Thanks again man! Philz - Thanks Philz, I didn't accomplish what the thought was on this one, I"m going to try when I can try to do so hopefully soon. The idea behind this is the thought of "It's Time To Go Home". I think I should have made the synth's a bit louder, kinda a moving along type of slow sound, but I failed because I didn't continue with my idea and it's obvious. I have words for this but can't sing, or so I've been told. Only time will tell on this one, maybe I can work it all out. Thank's for taking the time to listen and reply! mgh - Thanks MGH, no I didn't, this isn't really that new it's just re-mixed a bit. Hopefully I can add something new sometime in the next month or so. I have words for this and have been thinking of a possible new direction. We shall see. Thanks again Man! Wookiee - Thanks for listening, I kinda went nuts at the time with the drums, they are supposed to be playing their own type of hymn while following allowing the noize, I guess they got lost in the sound there somewhere, but it's a story song without a vocalist or words so that's understandable I guess. Thanks for taking the time to listen and reply! Bobby
