Metronome: No Audio Files for Audio Metronome

My apologies if this has been covered before but the search on this forum has been less than helpful.

Here's the deal.  I installed X1 Producer and have the X1a patch.  I'm trying to set up the metronome but when I select Audio Metronome and the appropriate audio output, the drop down selections for First Beat and Other Beats have nothing from which to select!

I understand there are other issues with the metronome, but not having any metronome is a real non-starter for me.  Any assistance or input would be appreciated.

Blind, You right click the record or play metronome button (or 'P') and you get nothing to chose from in the drop down box? Man that's weird and sorry not much help but I cannot get that behavior here.

Just upload the Jing vid to the TechSmith server and post the link it gives you.  I wonder why my metronome list is empty?

Can't up load with the free version. Sorry and all you'd see is a long list of stuff even if I could upload the vid. I tried every combo of output and setting in that dbx and couldn't get a blank drop down.

I'm not even sure what setting affects the list of items in there.  I see I have a Metronome folder underneath Sonar X1 Content (or something like that) and it has a couple dozen files, but they're just not showing up in X1.

I have the free Jing version as well and it allows me to upload.  I wonder what's different with yours?

I had the same problem - but now resolved. I realized it has to do with the master.ini instrument file. Reset your Sonar - when you start Sonar, press down shift key. That will reset your instrument file. Worked for me - my metronome audio files came back after I did that. Apparently it was caused by something I did unconsciously during installation.

Same issue for me too, my fellow Coloradoan (Aurora). Here's my breakdown,

ASUS G73JH Laptop
Line 6 POD HD500 (USB)
Windows 7 Home Prem. x64

I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice now and I get no audio options for my metronome. I made sure I checked the box for additional content when I installed, since I usually do custom installations of software. On subsequent attempts I did basic, or express installations and still, no audio options for the metronome.

I've looked into driver conflicts (?) and even with stock Windows drivers there's not an option in the drop-down boxes for metronome settings. I'm stumped!

Hi there,
I just registered as I'm trying out the 30 day trial and I have this problem with the metronome as well. Basically the the list is blank so I am unable to use the audio metronome. I tried pressing shift on start-up but that doesn't seem to work. Does anybody else have a suggestion?

Hi   here is the solution.
Please go to your Windows Start Menu and click "Run".  At the prompt, type or paste the following:

%APPDATA%/CAKEWALK

This is where you will find the metronome sounds. Copy them and paste into   C/sonarx1trial/metronome.

I have no experience with the trial version...but...my experience with the metronome is that the wav files for the metronome sounds aren't relocateable.  (I've been wrong before though.)

They start out life in...

c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Cakewalk\SONAR<version>\Metronome

...and then are copied, after you first open SONAR, to your user's account in...

c:\Documents and Settings\<userID>\Application Data\Cakewalk\SONAR<version>\Metronome

If they aren't there...SONAR has no way to find them.  Note that this is true for XP.  I have no idea what happens with Vista or Win7.

If you still haven't found your wav files, trying doing a "scorched earth" search from the C:\ root out, for "UREI 964 Click 1.wav".  (You could also try Beep.wav, but there's a chance that there might be an unrelated file by that name somewhere on your system.)

Howdy - In Preferences - Project - Metronome, there is a drop-down box in Audio Metronome, labelled 'Output'.  Make sure this isn't set to 'None', but rather to some other output from the drop-down list.  I just send the output to 'Master', which is one of the choices.

I'm not sure if this matches your situation, but it is something to remember anyway.

Good luck with it all!

I detest the metronome sounds. I have used them a few times  out of curiosity,  but mostly not.

I simply drag a few drum loops in and stretch them out as far as needed. Or I use Jamstix to play the beat. It sounds better and to me, it's easier to hear over the music to keep in time.
