When I was in school I had an interest in becoming an astronomer. I wasn't very good in math so that wasn't an option as a career path, and the observatories are unheated, and usually on mountain tops where it's really cold....... I always have enjoyed the night sky and the mysteries that it keeps. As I got older I still get the bug every now and then to drag out the scope on a clear night, but not enough to sink the bucks into a "big scope".
I have taken some decent photo's of a few of the comets that came through. A simple 35mm camera on a tripod, and a 45mm lens did an amazing job.
