Any advice on a program for starting out web design ?
Hi all I am looking at haveing a go at building a web page I already have my domain name and I also have a Server to host it so all that side of things has been taken care of I now just need to build the page. Do any of you guys ave any exp on web designe and can offer advice on a program to use to build it ? I have heard dreamweaver is a good program but I have never done this type of thing before so I will be starting from scratch and dont want to go about it the wrong way. Any advice on what program to use would be great or if anyone knows of a free program worth trying please let me know :) Thanks all Norrie

I use WebEasy professional. it's fairly easy to use, tho it took a little learning to get used to it. my "Beaglesound" website was created with it.

Same here.... Web Easy Pro built mine. It comes with a bunch of templates, it's easy to learn, and it works well.

I use MS Front Page included with the MS office suite and find it was easy to use and well supported by web host. If you've used any Micro soft software like Word or Publisher it shares the same format. Millions of templates available on line etc. I still havn't mastered the fancy stuff but can post songs and documents. It's also very easy to update my site. I tried Dream weaver once and couldn't get past the beginning, It does make cool looking sites however.

If your hosting site is Go Daddy I think they offer a free site builder as well.... I think WebEasy was about $40 ....maybe less.... @ staples.

Don't forget to get a lean and clean ftp program. Many web site builders have it built in... it's a lot easier to have a separate ftp app that lets you get in a get out fast without launching a whole web building program. I use Wftp. best regards, mike

Etostone Check if your servers support Wordpress ! you can build miracles just in seconds !!!!! http://wordpress.org/ it's not just for blog but whatever you want ! +1 on that. I use Wordpress for a number of sites. A few higher-tech items, but by and large, very friendly software. And free. And a lot of people writing both free and pay plugins for the package.
