replacement for onyx 1640fw
i need to replace the mackie with a minimum 12 input soundcard (preferably pcie)
can find plenty of 8 inputs but no 12
any suggestions please or do i have to pair 2 motu`s etc

I don't have an answer for you, but can I ask why you are moving from the 1640?

hey ken-have fried the firewire card and as it`s the early model with the firewire insert,not the new one with onboard firewire.
the replacement is around 1k-if they can find one.-really annoying as it suited my workflow perfectly and was bulletproof and very flexible for 4 years-the mixer is fine and i`ll keep for pre-production etc-looks like i`ll get the motu hd192-if i can massage the credit card or just might go for the new 1640(if the build quality and pre`s are the same) and sell the old mixer-just bought a sapphire6 for overdubbing and mixing until i choose.
the upside is that 7.02.1 is rock solid!!(must get around to using 8.3-too lazy to transfer templates etc)

Thanks for reply - I've got the 1640/firewire combo - wish I had waited for the next version. I like the mixer and the sound, but the lack of multiple firewire outs is very limiting.
It looks like the firewire is available on ebay for about $330 US

The price of the firewire card must have gone up. I only paid $400.00 for mine new.

Echo makes a 12 i/o card or the TCK 48 - both FW. Or a lynx 4x4 w/ ADAT daughter card (all PCI).
