X1a and the V-Studio 700C/R

Greets fellow 700 peoples...

I have just installed X1a and am delighted it has to be said by Sonar again... the 700C seems like it may actually burst into life under X1 because (and I may be wrong) the intuitive styling of X1 lends itself greatly to the streamlining that the 700C hints at but has not yet delivered 100%.. not that any controller really can deliver 100% of course.

There is a more direct/simple manner about X1 and the 700C may actually become a weapon... looking forward to the updated release for it!

Cheers.

So, does the X1a work with the VS 700? I was under the impression that "we" VS 700 owners wouldn't see a version of X1 that is compatible for a few months. I've been watching the threads, to monitor when the bugs are worked out and the update is released.

    Thanks

From my experiences, SONAR X1a works just as well as SONAR 8.5.3 does with the VS-700C/R. My only issues have been with the Fantom synth under X1a and are probably more related to me switching to 64-bit SONAR than X1 itself.  Even still, the Fantom does actually work, you just have to jump thru a series of hoops to get the 'editor' to communicate with the synth though.

How well do Sonar 8.5 projects transfer to X1?

As I understand it, there is an update to integrate the Prochannel ( and I'm sure some other things) with the V700C coming soon.
I haven't installed X1 on my DAW machine yet since I use the VS700 system on it. In the custom installation section of X1 there are files for the VS700 so I assume it works except for the needed update.

I've tried a few projects from 8.5 into X1 and there are some things about this that ensure I'll only reluctantly return to 8.5. I'm a simple person and I really enjoy when simple things are made 'simply' available like at a glance seeing clear information about your projects bit rate etc....

The 700C is no prob really under X1 and reminds me of a turbo charged MCU. The MCU was great but the current 700C is actually still better so personally, I can cope quite well until the update is released. Scrolling and all the general use stuff seems fine... so far... I'm still at the 'playing' stage but quite relieved. X1 sat in it's box for a week before I finally thought I'd just try it to see how it looks.... and wow!

Update is supposed to be available March so that's fine... sooner is always better but there is a lot for them to do.

    Cheers.

I have been using my 700 C with X1a and thus far I have had success...  It has resulted in a few more keystrokes on 700 C but not anything that should prevent anyone with moving forward with the 700C.  I read where they are going to be providing a 700C update to better integrate with X1

Gotta say the new smart tool split function is really good... a solid improvement. Keen to see it integrated into the 700C...

Haven't had one drop out or lock up etc etc... = pleasing.

Tell you what, there are things with X1 that would make the 700 surface fly I reckon...

    a) Tab access.
    b) New split function integration (may already be there and I haven't found it).
    c) Smart Tool access.

I should be able to setup/assign these now anyway... doh!

A shift function for the assignable buttons would be fantastically useful and I've changed a couple to unselect everything plus one to clear all clipping indications. This could be worth another thread to see what others have personalized...?

    Cheers.
