My dog barked all night at the hunting dogs and coyotes... now he's sleeping in.

My dog barked all night at the hunting dogs and coyotes... now he's sleeping in.

If he was my old college roommate I'd know what to do.

Somehow now that I am older, I think I'm supposed to be more tolerant and less mischievous.

grrrrrrrrrrrr

He just got up and had himself some breakfast.... 3-1/2 hours later than usual.

I bought one of those ultrasonic gizmo things that emits a loud (to a dog) noise when my critter barks....

The problem is, he seems to be willing to tolerate the noise to irritate me with his yelping..... he knows the limits of it apparently and sets far back from it to bark....

We already have a radio fence collar that he wears to keep him safe and on our fenced in property.

I think he's gonna get a remote control shock collar pretty soon.

He is such a sweet heart... but he can not resist the urge to act like a wild animal a few times each day.

It's like he's got 2 personalities in one body

He's sleeping at my feet right now.

    best regards,
    mike

Bought a shock collar for my shepherd a while back.  It had a warning buzz before it shocked.  Somehow, she figured out that if she shook her head, and repeatedly set the warning buzz off, it would run the battery down.  Then, when it no longer buzzed, she could bark freely.  The batteries were about $15 each.  After I replaced three batteries in five days, I gave up.  Anyone who uses the term "own a dog" has never had a smart one...

I had a Catahoula that figured that out on our Radio Fence system.

He'd sit in the beep zone for an hour and then squeeze out through the fence.

He was one smart fella... he died of old age at 14, 3 years ago....  I miss him.

I knew that guy would protect my wife 1000%.

I locked her in my utility room once, where the 20 channel snake passes through from the recording room in the basement, to the control room upstairs.  She had been sick, I needed to leave for a few hours, and I wanted to protect the carpets.  She could unlock and open doors, so I moved the lock to the outside.  In retaliation, she found the snake, and chewed through the rubber jacket.  Then she stripped and split each of the 60 wires inside, completely severing the bundle.  Looked like a bomb had gone off inside the bundle.  She knew exactly how to get even.  I was laughing so hard, I didn't scold her.  And never locked her up again.  I was well trained.  And I do miss her dearly as well...

Hmmm, contemplating a mean-natured song writer.  Never met one of those, though Don Henley comes close :-).

Thanks, Mike, I appear to be in good company, which is why I sacrifise doing the things I COULD justify doing,  to check in here...

The Beagle mix (Rizzy) in the pics was like that. She had separation anxiety disorder and would destroy anything her path when we were gone. Sometimes I would take her to work with me if I had a lot of windshield time. We just lost her a couple of weeks ago. :(

My wife and I built this building to keep them in. I don't have any completed front views, but there's a chain link fence with a door on a concrete slab on the front that they can go out to when we're not home. It's also heated, you can see the wall mount in one of the pictures. We have a heated water bowl for them on the concrete slab so they don't get the carpet wet. Notice I put all the outlets way up high so if I had anything plugged in they couldn't get to the cord. The rest of the building is our shed where we keep our garden stuff, tiller, small riding mower, hand tools etc. The black lab is Windy, the yellow is Maggie, and the Beagle mix was Rizzy.
