CHANGE SI Content Path to Another Drive??

Hi Guys (and Girls)

Am I missing something or does SI Content get Loaded to the C: Drive irrespective? I can't seem to point it to my D: Drive which has a Softsynth Contents folder.

I Might be missing something really obvious but ... Or failing which can we move the Content and make a registry change with a different path?
Dim Pro Loads to the Previously defined Path but SI seems to go where it wants???.

TIA

    Do you get a pop up asking where you want to install it during the the install? If not you'll have to move it to D after the install and then change your folder path in Sonar.

    Come on guys, can't believe I'm the only one that has noticed this problem?? I've installed it 4 or 5 times on clients computers and no matter what I get the SI Content on the C Drive. While it's not a problem for me (I have a 1Tb Boot drive) those clients that are still running smallish Boot drives and loading softsynths on a big drive are starting to get pretty full.

    It's not that clear in the setup process if I've missed the option 4 or 5 times? I mean I've been around Cakewalk a while now (Dos 4.0 Days)

    I don't know if this will work... I haven't tried it... but... you could try moving the folder location and then editing that location key in the Windows Registry, as follows...

    1. The default locations for the four Studio Instruments are...
    * C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Studio Instruments\SI-Bass Guitar\Multisamples
    * C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Studio Instruments\SI-Drum Kit\Kits
    * C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Studio Instruments\SI-Electric Piano\Multisamples
    * C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Studio Instruments\SI-String Section\Multisamples

    Change those locations to a new drive.

    2. In the Windows Registry, find the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Studio Instruments

    Open that key and you'll find each of the four instruments listed. Click on each one and change the Multisamples Folder value for each of them. You may also need to change the Contents Folder value, but I'm not sure.

    By the way, messing with the Windows Registry can cause problems, so proceed carefully and try this at your own risk...

    Hi Scott.

    Tried that with no Joy. X1 won't open after changing those paths and in fact restoring the Registry values (Which I backed up ) didn't help either.
    Something got hosed when I forced the SI Content to another Location. Ended UP reloading X1, no Biggie :-)

    Oh well at least I tried, so can save others the pain, but if someone finds a way, please let me know

    Cheers

    Hello,  I know this is an old thread, but I also experience some strangeness with SI.  I don't think you can make the SI interface recognize content in a different location, but you can move the content wherever you want and simply put the clips in a track and use SI to play them.  This won't work with SI in standalone mode, but works fine inside of Sonar and I do this regularly.  The only limitation is you can't pick the clips with the SI menu.  My related problem is that there are SI clips included that don't appear for me in the SI menu.  Using this method, I can use all the clips as well as use any clips with any instrument.

    Hope this helps.
