How do you mute/unmute a clip

I think I'm to dumb to figure X1 out. I read the help file to check. it says there is a mute tool in the control panel. I don't have one. What's wrong with the ole "keyboard M" to mute/unmute" I don't want to go select a tool for such a lame move. I'm furious. Wasting 30 min so far just to unmute a clip

oops, figured it out, did not know I had to "cycle" through a button... BUT please tell me theres a short cut for this. don't tell me the went from simply pressing "M" to
    1)select a tool
    2)cycle to the correct tool
    3)do your deed
4)and go back to select the smart tool again

    come on nowww

As is stated in the printed Keyboard Shortcuts sheet the Shortcut you are looking for is 'K'. If you prefer it to be 'M' you can certainly re-map it.

Ahhh "K" that makes perfect sense. Ha. But seriously, thank you. I looked at the shortcuts and obviously missed it.

Think "K for Kill" instead of "M for mute".  :)
