First attempt: Pachelbel's Canon in D
Hello 6 Feb 2011 Thanks to all for guidance and recommendations! In particular I was horrified when 7-string-guy reported a 10k pitch. Indeed, Sonar's Analyst showed it clearly. This was caused by sloppy recording techniques. I since discovered Garritan's Pocket Orchestra and used their program patches to create a second version. If you can still stomach the Canon in D, at the moment I've had enough... Thanks First Post: Please let me know what you think of my first attempt. I used Sonar X1 connected to a Yamaha PSR-550. Thanks in advance! Johan Schultz http://www.soundclick.com/johanschultz

No thanks.... Not too many here will take the time to download a file from someone they don't know. Viruses, malware, and all that stuff these days. You will get more people listening and commenting if you set up a www.soundclick.com site and let us stream the music without a download. It's free, it's fast, and most people here use it or another streaming site. I'll listen to it when I can stream it.

Hi Johan, nice take on the old standard. Not to sure about some of the orchestral sounds but the flute is very nice. Also I was hoping for some interesting bass parts, as you promised us in the title. Good job. Greetings, Rik

Very nice choice on the synth sounds! Lots of variety in the combination. Really enjoyed it.

This sounds real cool when you played with the xylophone/vibes patch. The other sounds are nice too.

I'll be back. In the meantime, it might help if you'd put the soundclick link in your original post, in case others don't take time to scroll down. :-)

nice take on a classic tune. Not really feeling the bass. It was to synthy...too midi sounding. the other instruments were passable as to what they were supposed to be. I rather enjoyed it but for the bass. Try an orchestral double bass in it. The synth bass is out of place. That ad on the page was irritating as all get out.... every time I rolled over it it pops out and started playing... and yeah I realize you have no control over that.

I agree with Herb on the bass. I didn't like it either. Like Herb said, a double bass would be a better fit.

7-string_guy did anyone notice a high pitch above 10k just dominating the mix? Thanks for this! One can clearly see the 10k pitch using Sonar's Analyst. I can only blame my recording technique for creating this. Until I have decent audio gear, I will stick to synthesised mixes! Regards
