Missing plugs after installing X1

I had these plugs working fine on my 8.5 Producer and after uninstalling Producer 3, 5 and 6, and installing X1, they are not found.  Anyone know how to get them back?  Thanks.

Timeworks Mastering EQ
Sonitus:fx Reverb
Lexicon Pantheon
BlueStereo

These plugs are indeed present in the VST folders to which the Cakewalk plug manager points.   I have the x64 X1 installed. Could these be 32-bit plugs that aren't supported by x64 X1?

    Hello Thornev.

You state you have X1 64 installed, so X1s start-up scan of VSTs (due to your settings) may be missing them.

First, find out were these VST exist on you system.  Perhaps in the 'Programs Files (x86)/Cakewalk/Vstplugins' directory or the 'Programs Files (x86)/Vstplugins' directory.  In any/either case, you need to determine the full path to directories that contain these Vsts.

    Then...

From within X1, on the top menu bar, select Utilities/Cakewalk Plugin Manager - this will open a new window.
In that window note the Options button.  Click that and another window will open.  Add the paths that you discovered above to the list of paths in that window.

Close that window and then click Scan Vst Plugins.   If these plugins are 32 bit and usable (using Cakewalks wrapper - it is automatic)  then the plugins should show up in the Plugin Manager Window and available for use.

    Good Luck

EDIT: Nevermind.  I see you already have the plugin manager pointing in the right direction.

Thanks for the response, Katherine.  I seem to remember something about registering plugs using regsrv32, but I don't know if that is applicable here and how I would go about doing it.  When I bring up a missing plug's properties, X1 shows me this long classid and I have no idea how to use that.  I don't understand why X1 can't use the plugs when the Cakewalk Plugin Manager is indeed pointing to the directories that contain the plugs.  Anyone else?  Please?

thorn, I lost my Lexicon but I figured it was because that's a DX effect and I think X1 no longer plays with DX effects?

Lexicon is there and working. My brain is not sorry for the confusion.

I don't have Timeworks Mastering EQ or BlueStereo but my Sonitus:fx Reverb is right where I'd expect it. Sorry not much help.

When you run SONAR are the plugins present in the Plugin Manager?

Thanks, Larry.  If that's true about Lexicon, I wonder what Cake says to customers whose livelihood depends on the work it does for million dollar customers and whose effects just stop working.  At the very least there should be a migration path or something.  I'm disappointed.  Anyone from Cakewalk want to chime in?   Thorne

Mike V - No, the Plugin Manager doesn't list the plugs, but the plugs reside in the directories listed on the Cakewalk Vst Scan Paths (which is displayed via the Vst Configuration Options button on the Plugin Manager dialog).  Thorne

I believe the Lexicon is one of a handful of plug-ins that doesn't work under 64-bit Sonar. Use the 32-bit version of X1 and it should be fine. That's the price for being on the leading edge.

Edit: I checked the Lexicon in the 32-bit version and it didn't seem to be working properly either. I may try a rescan.

Wait a minute.   If you are able to see the CLSID in the Plugin Manager, then the Plugin is registered (Regsvr'ed).  So, it should be selectable in one of the Plug-in menu Layouts.   Is it MIA in a menu?

Just run "regsvr32 <name of dll>" to register your DX plugin.

In my case I would run:

    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins\Pantheon.dll"

(quotes necessary since "Program Files" contains a space character)

But the thing is DC, is that the only way to see the CLSID in the Plugin Manger is to click on the actual plugin.  And since he can do that, and get a CLSID#, the pluging has an entry in the registry.  If he can see the plugin in the Manger, then he should be able to add it to a menu.

Just for general info DX is still supported by SONAR X1, as is evidenced by the fact that Sonitus fx are still there working away as always.

The issue is that unless the DX fx or intruments are ported to 64 bit they wont work in X1 x64 as there is no BitBridge for DX/DXi like there is for VST/VSTi.

I'm thoroughly confused as to where or what the OP has installed. He says they don't show up in the Plugin manager but talks about their CLSID which is only visible when you highlight a DX/DXi in the centre column of the Plugin Manager.

You're right Katherine. The plugin will only show up in Plugin Manager if it is registered. But I interpreted thornev's comment to be that he saw the CLSID in the missing plugins dialog, not in Plugin Manager. I confess to being a little confused as well. My guess is that he uninstalled the DX plugins (at least Pantheon) when he uninstalled the old versions of Sonar. If so, I think he should just be able to register it again to get it show up in X1. Interesting stuff.

    Best regards,

mudgel - The CLSID is displayed when you click in a track's effects bin and double-click the missing effect.  Thorne

That's exactly what I see if I add Pantheon to a project, close the project, close X1, unregister Pantheon, run X1, reopen project and double-click on the effect.

I just did it to generate the missing plugins dialog to verify that I could see the CLSID of the unregistered DLL.

Just run "regsvr32 <name of dll>" to register your DX plugin.

In my case I would run:

    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins\Pantheon.dll"

    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins\Pantheon.dll"

    In my case I did:

    regsvr32 "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Plugins\Shared Plugins\Pantheon.dll"

The result was "registration succeeded", but my project still thinks the Pantheon plug is missing.  I notice that I have a Pantheon.chm file in "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins" but no DLL.   I copied the DLL into that directory and registered again on the copied DLL.  Project still doesn't see the plugin after I have X1 rescan the failed plugins.

You might try just reinstalling it from an older version of Sonar. I know Lexicon Pantheon was still included up to Sonar 8. I don't remember if it was in 8.5. Just run the old Sonar installer and uncheck everything except Lexicon Pantheon Reverb in the Select Components page. I still have Sonar 8.3.1 PE and 8.5.3 PE installed and can use the Pantheon plug in X1a (64bit).

Running the scanner is pointless as its a VST scan.

direct X plugins have to be installed and registered. Copying dll files around the place doesn't work.

You best bet is to actually find which version of SONAR had the plugins you want and install them direct from disc. All versions of SONAR allow yoou to isolate as few as a single plugin for installation.

    Hi
I'm having the same problem with a Plugin called Piwarp.dll, from Prosoniq (who no longer sell it or provide support)

I am working in Sonar 8, and the plugin has vanished since last night. Cakewalk plugin manager does point to the file.

    I tried:
    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Piwarp-dll\Piwarp.dll"

    but I get the message:
The module regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Piwarp-dll\Piwarp.dll" was loaded but the entry-

    point DllRegisterServer was not found.

Make sure that regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Piwarp-dll\Piwarp.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX

    file and then try again

I was editing in Sonar 8, and the problem seems to have emerged since installing Sonar X2

I need to sort this as the plugin is used in every scene of a sc-fi audio drama I am producing, which as ever, has a deadline.

I should also add that the plugin is still showing and working in both Sony Vegas and Sony Sound Forge, and I can add it as a plugin in Vienna Ensemble Pro

    Thanks in advance
