clean electric, home-made sub-kick/ at4050

Bass, DI

Drums (all done with 4050/57)

-kick and snare were from kid's chinese drumset
-hihat is a piece of metal on a cookie cooling sheet

Vox were done with a combo of the 4050 and a mic made out of a late'50s Zenith tweeter.

No midi at all

Took me awhile to finish it, and am looking for anything that might help!

Still listening= cool the guitar just kicked in, nice jam and vocals are great. Yep, there you go! Wow, this sounds like your down in cajun country. Just need a wash board going , some spoons and a wash tub bass. Awe its over. I'll check it out again, great job on this one for sure. Love it !!

You can make a song without midi??  lol

You could sing in a closet and sound good I imagine.  I don't know how to help you make this sound better, but it sounds cool, especially thinking of what you used to create it. :-)  I guess I'd like to hear the vox a little clearer in some places.  Great tune!  :-)

    Thanks everyone!

I took some suggestions on the mix and took a better look into it. The bass/kick is a killer. I tuned down the bass for a deep thunk, and it was taking up so much space with the deepness of the kick.

I moved MANY 18 gallon rubermaid containers in my office stuffed with clothes. We have 4 kids, so we have all the hand-me-downs stored. They make great bass traps. I loaded them up in all the corners, it was like night and day. I could hear a lot more in the bass, so I hope you can hear the improvements!

cool stuff. people (hallo Tonehammer) make sample sets from stuff like you have done the percussion. this is cool. the mix is a little narrow and thin, but i think part of that is cos you don't have the volume slammed like many. really enjoyed this tune, especially the harmonica. the lead guitar felt a little fuzzy. great vocals.

overall this is excellent, so much energy and when you hear the story it's even better!

Really like the harmonica!  Wow just goes to show you with the right person at the controls, you can make it sound good without real expensive drums, etc.

    Very sweet mix!

Yeah, I've gotten the width comment on other mixes. I really have to work on the spread. It's sounds great on my system and headphones, but I haven't heard any of my stuff on other systems. I'm using Yamaha MSP7 monitors, and ATH M50 headphones.

Here I spend hundreds on fancy sample drums, and you get a better sound with stuff lying around the house, lol.

    Nice job

    Good stuff Ron.

I like the grateful vibe that underlies all the more modern motifs you throw at it.

I dug the harmonica and the vocal harmonies a whole bunch.

    best regards,
    mike

I really appreciate the nice comments, I'm greatful...because working on this thing so long has worn me down!

I'm still having issues with the low-end, but I made some positive changes. Here's the most current incarnation; going to move on to a new tune now and give this one a little time to breathe before I make anymore decisions on it!
