Stuttering/robot type sounds depending on latency

Hello all.  I just got X1 Producer up and running on my new machine.  I'm having serious problems with playback. Basically, at low latency, everything sounds extremely digitized or robotic, like it's been slowed down.  When I raise the latency very high, I get pops and clicks and artifacts.  I'm able to play music just fine through Windows Media Player but everything through Sonar is having this issue.

I have tried this through 2 different firewire interfaces: a Mackie Onyx Blackbird and a M-Audio Firewire 410.  Same issue on both.

My computer specs are: Intel Core i7 950 @ 3.07GHz. 4GB Ram, Windows 7 x64.

I uploaded a youtube video of what is happening with the audio as the latency changes here:

Has anyone encountered this before?  Can someone help me?

Thanks!

And you are using the latest ASIO drivers for your interfaces?

Also check sample rates. Sound slowing down is usually a symptom of sample rate mismatch between interface and SONAR project.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

    I watched the video.

It seems that your low latency setting is 308 samples. That seems huge... but maybe I've just grown unfamiliar with WDM drivers because I use the ASIO versions.

Anyways, did you run Wave Profiler after setting the buffer? I usually did that when I used the WDM drivers.

Also, after you do that... I'd advise staying in a narrower range of sample buffer size.

For example; 308 samples may be the middle to large size.

    Good Luck.

    best regards,

Hi - and welcome to the forum!

I just watched your video and see you are using WDM driver - have you tried ASIO?
