Anyone using Motu HD192 with Black Lion modifications

after ordering a new hd192 i found a post on gearslutz saying the black lion mods to converters and clock are
"like taking a blanket off the speakers"
has anyone done this and if so is the difference audible?
my option is to ship from Oz to US,have it modded and shipped back to Oz-lot to ask for an electronic device
or have i been sucked in by marketing?
ps:thanks to all who suggested the sapphire 6 usb-mixdown went well-plug and play -no glitches-early overdubs suggest the pre`s are at least as good as the onyx-handy backup unit and portable!
pps:the motu forum is a joke
cheers
tony

    Hi Tony,

FWIW, I've got a client who had the BL mod done to his 003R.
I had him measure the average noise-floor... and it was at -100dB.
While I'm sure the mods do improve things... it may not be as dramatic as you'd expect.
Personally, I'd spend that money on mics/preamps/etc... before modding a unit that already sounds pretty good.  No matter what level of A/D D/A you purchase, there will always be a "better" unit.
At some point, I think you call it "good enough" and move on.
Joe Satriani was recording thru an 001 at one point.

    Best Regards,
