lowering pitch on VO

Hey guys,
As some of you may know my bread and butter is video production. I have a female VO that I took into Vegas Pro 10 to lower the pitch but it didn't handle a semitone as well as it needs to be.
I feel sure this is a job for X1 but I wouldn't think I'd want to use V-vocal right (not just because I've read it's buggy but this is spoken voice)?
What would you guys suggest for about a half step or maybe a little less?
Thanks,
Randy

Process > Transpose has a checkbox for transposing audio. It's good for transposing by discrete steps. There's also the Cakewalk Pitch Shifter plugin; it's okay for making tuning changes of less than a semitone, but adds a lot of artifacts at higher intervals. Not sure how either of these will work on a vocal, but I think that's it for what's included with SONAR.

Give V-Vocal a try, it might work for you.

Or as brundlefly said, Process->Transpose is good too, and it gives you a couple of choices for algorithm.  Or if you right-click on the clip and choose Process Effect->Audio Effects->Cakewalk->Time/Pitch Stretch 2 you can transpose by fractions of a step, but you don't get the Radius algorithm.

If you use the Time/Pitch Shift in Sonar, be sure that you go to the second tab ("Advanced") and select the proper setting from the "quality" menu.

You might also want to try fooling around with the "formant" control in V-Vocal without actually changing the pitch.

Thanks guys, Process > Transpose worked great with no artifacts for 1/2 step...thanks again!

SONAR has excellent facilities for this built right in as some have already mentioned. Using the Radius algorithms in the Transpose process, you'll likely get excellent results w/o the need for any 3rd party software whatsoever.

Yessir Brandon I can't imagine my results being any better than they are. It just seems to have turned a young 20 year old lady radio announcer (and a bit squeaky at times) into a 30 year old golden throat.
    Thanks again guys,
    Randy
