Guitar / vocals left side fix?

I have just bought Sonar XI and placed it on a new laptop after my old computer with Sonar 6 died.   When I record guitar or vocals it comes out in the left channel only.  Is there an easy fix for this explain in plain English for a non-tech guy?

The User Guide states on page 48 "I only get one side of my guitar / microphone recorded. You may be recording through a stereo input. *[Yes.] ... Right click the track and select track properties from the popup menu. *[ No such popup menu exists that I can find.] This opens the Track Properties dialog *{ It doesn't exist], where you can specify the desired input port. Select the appropriate side of
your stereo pair, either left or right as opposed to stero."
Does this mean that I am forever locked into converting my left channel recordings to mono?

I am not sure in X1 but it sounds like you have an interface with 2 inputs & your track input is set to stereo.   In 8.5.3  if you are on track view & make the track taller (stretch the bottom down to open it up further)  there is a tab for "I"  & one for "o"   you can click the in tab & choose from stereo,  mono input #1, mono input #2.   Sounds like you need to pick mono #1 & you shoul be all set.  Hope this helps.  If X1 is completely diffeent than the above info maybe useless but I have to imagine the choices should be similar.

Yep...pretty much exactly what ChuckC said.  I had the same problem when I set up 8.5

Nice to get things working, isn't it?
To summarize: If you record mono signal (like guitar or microphone) on a stereo track, it gets recorded on the left channel as default.
Alway choose a mono track for mono source.
