X1 Crashes a lot
I am using latest X! producer I can not narrow it down as to why the program continuously crashes. i shut down my anti virus and many other back ground operations and yet still crashes. Machine is fast and rather new. I believe I have the latest drivers etc. My audio is ausio using a M-Audio Project mix I/O. I was using 8.5 when I found I needed more under the hood by one of you guys in april of last year. I was talked into dropping Sonar and made a hackintosh and was running Logic ( too old to teach new tricks). It was much faster but I loved Sonar so changed new computer back to PC. Now with constant "teleporter" (crashing) problems i have to wonder - at least Logic was stable on the machine. Please can anyone help. I do not see too many complaints so it must be mostly me. what am I doing wrong? Ken

I was having similar issues. We just started a new project and we are keeping everything 64 bit. No 32 bit vst's at all. We haven't had a crash in 3 days. Very stable. I also unistalled every Windows update in the list in Win7 to get it back to as close to the fresh install as possible.

The "teleporter" crashes you describe sounds like 32-bit plug-ins. Describe the projects you are working on during the crash. What sample rate are you using? Are you using VSTi's? What effects are you using? Are you running 64-bit Sonar or 32-bit Sonar? Are you up to the latest patch (X1a)? What is your latency set to when these crashes occur? Give us a bit more detail and we might be able to help. Tom

I have been looking at DDR ram and its important in shifting around data its a good idea to make sure ur DDR ram can transfer data around as quickly as possible. I think for DAW work you need the best ram and the same make! This alon can cause crashing is the comping..could be a reason why some people struggle and others not so much.. Just a thought.

File has mix between 32 and 64 bit vst and vsti What sample rate are you using?48K What effects are you using? Sonitus reverb eq IK products - Alicia Keys Are you running 64-bit Sonar or 32-bit Sonar? 64 Bit Ram was the fastest available last June and all the same! Are you up to the latest patch (X1a)0? Yes Latest What is your latency set to when these crashes occur? Buffers 2 Size 5.3 msec 256 samples Asio input 7.8 374 sample same Out total round trip 15.6 msec 748 samples 64 bit double precision checked M-Audio Project mix is sound board what about the Bit bridge - is the other program that does the same job more stable - the Bit bridge seems to be the problem. also when Sonar crashes I have to shut the project mix off to get program to reboot and also go into task manager and shut Sonar down and bit bridge - there is no automatic release! Ram was fastest DDR at he time June /10 and all same Thanks Ken

New crash, Running about 6 loops, 1 battery, 2 raptures 1 NI Accoustic piano. It crashed because I moved a midi note while the audio was playing (it was NOT the next note to play). sigh.,..

Was the initial Sample Rate 48 or did you change any of those settings at anytime and save?

No crashes, plenty of audio and midi tracks with effects- and no freezing. Feels almost too stable compared to 8 (last version I used). Sad to read about others having problems though...

At the moment I've got autosave setup for every 15 minutes or 50 changes, I've been working on a session for the last week or so and I'm currently getting a couple of crashes per session. I've been lucky thats it's not been an issue so far as I'm able to open back up in a couple of minutes and carry on from the last autosaved position if I haven't recently saved the project. Some of the crashes I've had have been from Vvocal clips (adjusting, looping and deleting) and a bit of audio snap and hopefully this will be addressed in the X1b patch considering they have been mentioned in the sticky thread. I've had a few crashes moving and editing or drawing volume envelopes during playback and also splitting and trimming during playback as well. Generally I've found that as long as I refrain from making drastic changes during playback the session will run smoothly. I'm holding out for the next update anyway but can't really see myself going back to 8.5 now as I'm much quicker with the new workflow.

not a game system at all. no games. just two monitors. my cheap video card jut fried so went for a name product. win 7 64 home is fully up to date machine is 7 months old tops i built it as a hackintosh to run Logic - hated the Mac. It did run very fast compared to Sonar but i have had Cakewalk since very early 90's and moved to sonar 2 when it came out. so many bad editions but stuck it out. At times have been very sorry that is why I tried Mac. Can not teach this old dog new tricks. Logic did have some very nice features but Sonar has some different ones that are nice too. Problem is that Logic did not crash at all if I remember all. Hope next upgrade will be a savior for Sonar. it is so annoying Ken

I forget what they are but its in performance if I .......remember

Ken, Did you ever get this problem resolved? I am currently running X1 with a ProjectMix and it crashes all of the time! I have tried everything that support has told me to do but still having major issues... this is getting to a point that I am thinking about selling the ProjectMix and going back to my Echo Layla. Let me know. Thanks, Paul
