the bad part of this deal is you have to buy a $50 dongle for the $15 plugin....

Mesh the bad part of this deal is you have to buy a $50 dongle for the $15 plugin.... Yes but just think it's a $50 donation to help Waves combat piracy and secure their profit margins. In fact I don't want the plug-in it looks pretty boring bread and butter to me, just give me the dongle... Warez and dongles, two sides of the same coin. Count me out.

Well since I've already got two of the dang things (iloks) I sprung for it. But it's on the new WAVES8 which, I think, will run concurrently with all my other WAVES7 plugs. Who want's to bet that when I install it...all hell will break loose??

Who want's to bet that when I install it...all hell will break loose?? Nah, I reckon you'll be alright. Don't they wrap their plugs in separate 'shells' which handle the versioning? I'm intrigued why you have 2 dongles though is it because they fill up and you have to get another one, or are you just like me and lose your keys all the time and need to keep spares? The latter reason is a major cause of my prejudiced aversion to dongles. Man, I'm even capable of losing the car, let alone the keys to it.

Nope, I've got two by happenstance. I had to get one in order to run several of the software packages I bought and the other came with one of the packages I bought. Wished I had got that one first. More irony...since I was a member of the Steven Slate VCC beta group buy...I'll be getting another one (one of the new ones) gratis. I'm iLoked to the max, baby!!

The ilok2 holds over 500 software license authorizations. I got it free with the Slate deal too although my original I bought back in 2002 for still works fine.

No, it must be used with the new iLok2...that's the reason Slate shipped all us "beta buy" members one. So, as of now, we've got a sleek, new iLok2...but no final VCC to go on them...yet.

Oh it's the bee's knees for what works on it in Beta form. On my system (and many others) everything works AOK except for the NEVE setting...which they are well aware of and are fixing before the final release. It can be very subtle to hiss inducing, hot console with all faders up saturated but it really does give you a smoother more "analog" sound. Of course don't take my word for it...I'm just an Emperor whose misplaced his nappys.

REvival of an older thread--what about this no-brainer?

I got an Ilok last month--so this is not a barrier to purchase. SO---Is this Waves Audio Track worth getting for the $19.00 no brainer price that is still up on Audio Midi?
