SOLVED: Any ideas on how to completely wipe a hard drive?
Windows 7 with Ubuntu dual boot has gone majorly wrong. I want to completely wipe the hard drive including the MBR, which is now totally fubar. Boooted from the Windows install disk and tried FDISK, no joy. Booted from Ubuntu CD and reformated, no joy. Tried SuperFdisk (freeware), no joy. Anyone know any good tools for this? Preferably bootable from CD. Cheers! Eric.

I don't remember the command line for formatting a HD, but try holding down F8 and booting from safe mode.

Thanks Craig, but unfortunately safe mode is unreachable, the MBR is pointing at the wrong location for the O/S's. Think I've got rid of the MBR, but I thought this a couple of hours ago, but it resurrected itself from the grave Trying KillDisk now, and found a couple of other bits in the Windows install disk to re-create the MBR when thats done. So much for going to the pub tonight
