Hey,
Can someone help me out? I'm trying to convert song to mp3. I purchased cakewalk publisher. Can't figure this one out. I can burn to a cd in wav, but I need to convert to mp3 to post to web.

paul - i'm not familiar with cakewalk publisher as a separate item.  you say you "purchased it" - I only know about publisher that comes integrated with SHS7, not a separate product.  can you point me to it?

as far as making an mp3, I don't yet know what "cakewalk publisher" does, so I don't know if that will help you or not (I didn't find it as a separate product by looking at the cakewalk store, but I could have missed it).  SHS comes with a 30 day trial mp3 converter.  if you've had SHS7 installed more than 30 days, you either have to purchase the converter for $19 and they give you an "unlock" key or you can use some free stuff on the internet.

if you choose to use free stuff from the internet, export your wave file from SHS to 16bit/44.1kHz because some converters won't convert from other formats.

there are a lot of choices for converting from wave to mp3.  do a google search for "free mp3 encoder"  - others can give suggestions on what they use.  I use LAME.

    Hey!!! the ever reliable Beagle,
I stand corrected. I purchased the mp3 converter, not the publisher. I downloaded it from a link they emailed me, but I can't figure out how to use it. I'm looking for a simple way to convert. I'm assuming the cakewalk converter is the way to go.

it is if you paid them for it!

the file I downloaded a long time ago is an executable file, just run it.
