Sometimes When I'm Stressed, I Buy Things

Was thinking of this:

12 channels.  USB or Firewire.  Works with my MacBook Pro, or with my Win7 PC.  A promise for a firmware upgrade that will allow it to be used as a stand-alone flash drive recorder, for gigs.  Low latency.  Anyone have words of discouragement?

Hey, you should post something like this in the Coffee House forums.

J/K Nevermind....... If I don't throw my two cents worth in now, I'll end up broke without a purpose later on. Just kidding.

Could I stress you enough to buy me one of those?

The idea of using it as both a studio interface and a stand-alone 12-channel recorder is intriguing.  This could allow it to be used at gigs for live sound capture, or in the studio for recording when the computer/software is not cooperating (not that that ever happens).  My only hesitation was that the stand-alone recording capability is based on a promise at present, IIUC.

The good thing about RME is that they always sounds fantastic, regardless of model! And they keep their value reasonably well if you decide to sell it.

Besides that, you now have an Audio interface which is superb.

Okay, the buyer's remorse is eased somewhat.  There is a music conference in April, at which RME plans to debut the flash drive record capability.  They say they'll release it for open beta on their site ahead of time (an interesting business model :-)  )
