2 hard disks

My desktop currently has 2 HD, one is unused (old) and the other one is the one i use.
Is there a way that if i wanted to switch to that other HD, i wouldn't need to remove the plug of one HD and place it in the other?

Something like a HD selection when booting. Is that possible?

Because i just want to give that old HD to my mother for her to use with the internet, because my DAW gets tainted with some sorts of social networking apps and stuff that i don't want. I don't even wish to have my DAW connected to the internet.

    If you have both connected internally (whether SATA or PATA) and the BIOS recognizes both drives you can either set up a dual boot or most BIOS allow selecting which drive to boot from.  On a Dell it's F12 at POST, on an Intel motherboard it's F10. 

    You didn't list what PC you have so all we can do is guess.

    If you have the Operating System installed on both drives and both drives are bootable, download and run Easy BCD HERE  and it will set up the dual boot.  Then when you boot up the PC you can select which drive to boot from.

    Thanks! Answered my questions perfectly!

    But i only have 1 wire/cable that connects to the HD, i have to remove it and switch it to the other to use the other. Is there a cable that i can buy that has 2 connections instead of one?

    I just looked into my CPU. I have 2 vacant SATA plugs on my motherboard.

    My current HD has 2 cables plugged into it, on thick red cable that connects to the SATA labeled socket, and another one which splits into small-multicolored cables. Does my 2nd HD need to be connected with both cables, or does it only need the thick red cable to the SATA socket?

    your 2nd hard drive need both cables as well

    the litle red one (sata)cable that you can bought separetly.

    & also the power-cable (small-multicolored cable) this come from the power-suply

    To connect the two HDD then you have to only want two cables that are 1) power cable and 2) Sata cable which established the connection between the two HDD. By this both the HDD will perfectly run. And I get the when I purchase the new HDD.
