Sizzle and pops in my sound

I feel like I've tried everything in the world to try and make my recording actually work without all of the distortion and noise but nothing is working. Its completely intermittent, sometimes its there and sometimes its not. I try closing sonar and reopening it but it comes back. I've tried restarting the computer and that doesn't work either. I got rid of a good bit of my problems when I discovered the computer cannot be plugged into any internet. I enabled write caching but that didn't do it. I have 3 buffers on and the latency in the middle between safe and fast. I've got a windows 7 machine. I really don't remember having this many problems on windows xp. The computer has 2 gigs of ram, so that should be enough I would think. Can anybody think of anything that will fix this? I'm not even gonna try to record a single idea until this is handled. This ruins the whole experience for me and I have to fix it.

So 2 gigs isn't enough with Sonar 8? I think I need a new motherboard to install anymore.

I don't get it. So you have a pc that the MB can support a max of 2GB of RAM. This means that it must be at least 4-5 years old, which also means that the CPU is  2,4 GHz at max. Why on earth did you upgrade to windows 7? The only logical solution is because it's the most stable 64bit OS.  and a 64bi OS recognizes more than 4GB ram. Other than that i can't see any reason to move to windows 7. I think that you've made a huge mistake my firend. If you have the option, roll back to win XP.

Yea, the machine is pretty old but it handles 7 well for most applications. I think I'm going to upgrade cpu & motherboard soon though

you should for many reasons. if you have a fresh windows installation, then in the beginning everything runs smoothly. but as the time goes by, the system files are getting messier and messier and then you'll maybe encounter performance problems. in my opinion when you'll upgrade mb, cpu and ram those problems will disappear!

I have the same problem. Delta 1010. I7, 2.80 Ghz, 9G Ram. I get sizzle right after a few seconds of recording.

    Thanks,
    Jim

Have you registered all your plugins, including Guitar Rig that came with SONAR? It needs to be registered separately IIRC.

Oops. I saw this same subject in the parallel thread discussed more thoroughly.
