Best Laptop for Music Production?

I'm in the market for a new laptop...i currently have a Dell Inspiron E1505 and its getting dated.  I would look into a custom laptop, but you can't get any deals on those.  I do music similar to Depeche, so need to be able to run several vst synths simultaneously, along with maybe 5 or 6 vocal trax simultaneously.  We only record one vocal or guitar part at a time.  btw I'm not looking for a desktop cause im rarely able to record in the same spot. I read somewhere the new lenovos are good.  I've been hearing i need to watch out for boards that arent grounded, loud fans, etc.  i will be getting some sort of audio interface, but it would be ideal to have a computer with a decent built in soundcard so i when i am just mixing i dont have to have anything dangling off the computer. One thing that always bugged me about my e1505 is that the built in soundcard only allows for 48khz, when ideally id like to be mixing at 44.1khz.  I know everyone has a mac, but i used to have a mac, and im over it.  everything is more expensive for macs, software, etc.  Its a great computer if you are rich.  What laptops are top producers using?  (aside of mac)   I also hear i need to have a TI firewire chipset? btw is it a must to keep all audiofiles on an external drive? if thats the case then i probably dont need a huge internal drive.  Whats a decent chip?  i5?  Anything would be better than what i have now. Does anyone here have a laptop that they swear by?  Thanks in advance!!

You should post this in the Hardware or Computer forum, lots of the same questions asked and you'll be able to get a feel for whats what.
But any new computer over $800 should be up to the task of recording etc.
Most important is fast hard drives and lots of RAM. And follow advice about optimizing for DAW.
sometimes wireless cards and battery management interfere.
But more important than the computer is a proper USB ( or firewire)
audio/MIDI interface. On board sound cards are not up to the task.

There are so abounding acceptable articles in the bazaar its absolutely difficult to accept one
but I made up my mind to choose this and guess what I am very much satisfied. It has HP ENVY 17-1011NR 17.3-Inch Laptop, *Intel Core i7-720QM processor 1.60GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.80 GHz; Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit is best thing in it.
