Delay caused by 64-bit Cakewalk FX

Hi there

Has anyone experienced a big delay when monitoring live with any of the 64-bit effects included with x1 producer? (on a 64-bit system obviously!), particularly transient shaper, tube leveller and perfect space? Others don't cause this problem. Although the processor usage is very small, a delay of up to 1 second occurs with all live monitoring when using these plugs. Not just on the individual track(s) which have them, but all tracks within a project. The problem doesn't occur with any other effect, hence I'm limited to using these for mixing only.

I'm using an i7-950, Producer X1 on Windows 7 x64, 6gb ram, and a Motu 828 mkII. Recording in asio mode with 256 buffers, 24-bit 96Khz.

these plugs are delay compensating. If you have the PDC turned off in sonar then it overrides the delay compensation and things can get strange.

This kind of plug is not recommended for live monitoring (ie during the recording process) because the the delay compensation.

Ah yes that makes sense. I'd forgotten all about that. Thanks Tom.

    Yes, those are latent plugins.
If they're inserted anywhere in the project, Sonar's automatic PDC will compensate (to keep everything in sync), thus causing the delay when monitoring thru software.
You can temporarily disable PDC (just while tracking) if you're running v8.5 or X1.
This will allow you to track/monitor without the delay (assuming the latent plugins aren't assigned to the track/s you're monitoring).

Just remember after your done recording turn PDC back on for the mixing and mastering phases of your project.
