SONAR X1a cant hear anything on big session and "CRASHES"...
Hi...... I just cant work with Sonar X1a...im very frustated.....I press play and everything sounds ok but if I press stop and then play....i just cant hear a thing....and then if I want to close and restart sonar it crashes....i thoght it was something about the buffer size of the ASIO drivers....but no matter what buffer i use it happens over and over again....task manager doesnt work an I have to restart the computer and start all over again....I want to finish mixing a song and I cant.... And something else I found is that If I see on the mixer screen the fisical main outs (the ones that are red) then the vertical cursor stops moving....in this case I hear the music but the cursor stops....if I hide the fisical main outs then everything works ok..... Anyone experience this issues? What should I do? I have an EMU-1820m card....my computer intel i7 2.8--12 gigas of ram and windows 7 64 bit.... Thanks...

Yep, it´s very buggy, maybe X1b will fix a lot we´ll see. I had the same problem started in X1 and couldn´t finish. The good thing is you can open your project in 8.5.3 and finish it there, the only thing you lose is the ProChannel, hope you didn´t use it too much.. cheers

My motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD7, im using 4 ATI videocards, 8 displays, but yesterday I disabeled every display and still have the problems....I dont have any irq problems between the souncard and the videocards.....I didnt have any problems using sonar 8.5 using the 8 displays.....when I upgrade from 8.5 to x1 all the parameters of my plugins were different....and I had to redo everything....I really dont want to go back to 8.5 cause im sure all my songs are going to sound different.... There are no official drivers of the emu website for windows 7 but they say they didnt have problems using the lastest drivers for vista 64 http://www.emu.com/support/custsup.asp and its true cause I didnt have any problems using sonar 8.5... Cheers...

No doubt about it - Sonar X1 is very crash-prone. I have 3 displays and had modified the "normal.cwt" template to open the Console view on my left-hand monitor. With X1's refusal to allow only 1 open project, when I open a new one with the Console closed upon loading, the default template Console was displayed. Upon closing it and opening the Console view for the newly opened project, CRASH. Maybe there are issues with multiple monitor/multiple video card use and the new GUI? KEv

All the options of the turbo mode and overclocking of the motherboard are turned off, and I still have the problems. What is the relationship between the drivers of the motherboard and the crashes on sonar?....if I use Adobe Audition I dont have any problems and im using the ASIO drivers in that program.... Im going to try the motherboard chispset driver but maybe my system already have it..... Thanks...

oftalmos What is the relationship between the drivers of the motherboard and the crashes on sonar? None, if 8.5 worked an Audition too, then do your math, X1 is the problem.

I just bought the X1 LE starter kit which was supposed to include the mp3 encoder. When I tried exporting in mp3 the error message says that I need the mp3 encoder. Help

The first question: Are you sure you have input echo on while recording? Second question: As far as I know the mp3 encoder is not included in the X1 LE version. It is included as trial version in X1 Essential and higher. Even with X1 producer you have to buy a full licence to use it beyond the trial period. There are ways around this tough. At first - just export the mix as .wav file and use a free sound editor like Audacity (make sure you download the LAME mp3 encoder for the program). Secondly - you can download the LAME mp3 encoder and set this up in Sonar directly. You can search this forum to get a description how to do that. Personally I prefer the first method. I rather have a higher quality finished mix as wav file and "degrade" that to mp3. It always take some time to export complete mixes (depending if you use a lot of plug-ins and/or soft synths). Converting an exported .wav file into a .mp3 file in Audacity is a relatively fast process in comparison. It makes it easier to tweak the parameters fast to get a acceptable mp3 without a lengthy export process.
