Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones (concert footage)

Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones

just watched it, this weekend.
a most excellent movie. i highly recommend it. possibly the stones at their very best, and captured on film, with a pretty decent remix. i believe andy johns did the original mix.

first released in 1974,  filmed in 16mm by Bob Freeze and Steve Gebhardt of Butterfly Films owned by John Lennon during four shows in Fort Worth and Houston, Texas, during the band's 1972 North American Tour in support of their classic 1972 album Exile on Main St.

The concerts were recorded in 32 tracks and the soundtrack was mixed in Twickenham Studios in England. In its initial U.S. theatrical run it was released in "Quadrasound" which was a variation of the four-track magnetic sound format.

On October 12, 2010, it was issued on DVD and Blu-Ray, digitally re-mastered

"Brown Sugar"
"****"
"Gimme Shelter"
"Dead Flowers"
"Happy"
"Tumbling Dice"
"Love in Vain"
"Sweet Virginia"
"You Can't Always Get What You Want"
"All Down the Line"
"Midnight Rambler"
"Bye Bye Johnny"
"Rip This Joint"
"Jumping Jack Flash"

That era is by far the stones best live period.  Before Ron Wood "replaced" Mick Taylor.

i watched this one in 5.1

but they also did it in stereo, and in DTS

if it's mixed for 5.1, how can they convert it to DTS?

I really liked 'Ladies & Gentlemen', but have to say - Shine A Light was up there with this one for great Stones DVDs...

I didn't see either of those, but I saw Gimme Shelter back in the '70s. It was pretty good except the bummer of an ending.
