Rapture patches in 64-bit Sonar not available in 32-bit

Hi all,

I had a few problems with Rapture so I thought I'd re-install it. I uninstalled from the Control panel, removed all Rapture* DLLs in sight, plus any directories.

I have both 32- and 64-bit versions of Sonar installed on Windows 7.

Installing the 1.1 update and specifying the "Program Files (x86)" did not work, Sonar wouldn't load the instrument. So I went back to 1.0 on the CD - that was OK. I then re-ran 1.1 and tried installing to 'x86' but it went wrong again. So I started from scratch again. This time I just let the 1.1 installer do its thing and install to the 64-bit location - after which Rapture works in both versions, but the 1.1 patches are only available in the 64-bit version, e.g. "Absolute 110".

Installing the 1.2.2 upgrade worked but I still can't see the '110' patches.

Does anyone know if there's a way to merge all installed patches into one place?

Cheers, John

I've got a workaround - if I select the sounds in the 64-bit Sonar (X1), when I open the project in the 32-bit version the sounds are there. I just can't select the sounds in the 32-bit one. I'll just have to remember not to change them

A bit of a pain but there you go.

Another interesting point which I noticed ages back and explains why I'm using the 32-bit version. Some of the '110' patches go wrong in the 64-bit version - for me at least. I noticed they were still doing it in X1 after Rapture was un- and re-installed (I noticed it not long after the 1.1 upgrade in Sonar 8). For example try "FG Sonic Imperialism". After a while it starts distorting, it's quite fun actually but unpredictable. Doesn't happen in the 32-bit version.

OK - I feel like I'm talking to myself  but just in case anyone else has this issue. Searching for "*.prog" turns up a whole load of files in the hidden location "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Rapture\Programs", including "00 - Absolute 110" which is the one I'm after. By copying this folder to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Rapture\Programs", after refreshing Rapture in the 32-bit Sonar, I can see the programs.

You are using an outdated version of Rapture on your system if it has to read from .progs from the old Program files location.  That is a Rapture 1.0 location.  Ever since Rapture 1.1+ the Programs folder has been moved to:

    C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Rapture\Programs

I'd suggest performing a file search for Rapture.dll make sure you read the version information for each dll and delete any that is not 1.2.2. Or you can also rerun the latest update and make sure that any particular old dlls are in fact being overwritten by the update.
