Wireless networking brainiacs c'mon in.

I've moved my studio out of a large commercial facility and am finishing out a building on my property as a downsize measure.

I want to go wireless from my house to the outbuilding. A distance of about 50'. Problem is, the outbuilding is metal and I believe this will not work well for receiving from the house.

So, is there a wireless antenna (small rubber perhaps) that could be mounted to the exterior of the metal building ensuring good reception.

If so, could you please post a link. I'm having trouble finding something like this.

Thanks,

Earl

Have a look here..   wifigear.co.uk    it's a UK site but you'll get the same stuff in the US.

You should be looking at one of the directional antennas, mount it on a pole on your shed/studio and point it at your house.  You'll need the correct cable to connect to the wifi card in your PC.

Alternatively, use a standard wifi router in the studio connected to the directional antenna and run cat5 cables from it to your machine(s).  You need to turn off the NAT in the router so it acts as a simple bridge to the main WiFi net in your house.
