Sonar X1 and MPK88???? WTH!!!!!

I have Sonar X1 Producer, MPK88 and M-Audio Fast Track Pro. I cannot get the buttons, sliders and rotaries to work at all. I also can never get any kicks from drum kits to go through any of the pads. I'm totally new to this and have had eveything for 4 days. I have spent a ridiculous amount of time researching and reading and trying different things...nothing????? My deepest graditude for any help.
