Do you have the echo button enabled on the track? Just a guess.

What gain? There are many gain stages, so please explain your entire gain stage and signal chain..

I can't see any other explanation than that the gain of the Akai/the other interface simply doesn't go to zero or there's some kind of a leak. I can't imagine anything could be done in SONAR to fix it.
Another thing is, what problems does this cause to you?
In what kind of situations does it disturb you? Does the same happen with vocal/microphones?

I've never tried if my E-MU lets anything through with input gain at zero.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Well I have been recording and producing music for about 8 years now...I have never had this problem... I am trying to weed out the cause... I have even went as far as sending my akai out to the manufacturer to be fixed... but nothing was wrong with it.. I guess I will record with it and try that... The obvious problem would be it disrupts the noise floor bringing the audio clarity down..what do you think..

Something is producing the gain outside of sonar. Maybe the gain doesn't go down low enough to make the audio not heard. Check your Specs for your Akai. If you are using a guitar, maybe the pickups are active. It can be many things causing this. check the manual for your Akai
