We were looking at it last night thinking the same thing, just a slight shadow between 10 and 1 o'clock on that super shot there confirms it wasn't far off. It was very light sitting out on the patio at 2 am this morning.

I have the Moon picture as my windows wallpaper now. Is there a fee payable?

Gorgeous shot, Mike. What size of lens did you use? You're making me wish I'd gotten my camera out. Here in GFK, there was a gorgeous golden cast to the moon, I'm guessing due to our particular latitude and some atmospheric effects. Next time... Thanks for posting!

No moon here last night. Thunderstorms all night long.

Awesome shot Mike. I'm reminded of a series of slides (a whole roll of Kodachrome 64 IIRC) I produced one night many moons ago Long before digital imaging, I used the multiple exposure function on my Canon T90 to first capture some nightscapes of a beautifully floodlit Worcester Cathedral - I'd use my 50mm f1.4 standard lens or my 35mm depending on what shot I was after. After holding each landscape in the film gate, I'd switch to my trusty 70-210 f4 zoom and 'doubler' adapter and recompose with full moon where I wanted it in each shot. I got some great shots and as soon as I can track them down, I'll try and see if I can find someone to digitise them so I could post them here. Here's a digital image I just concocted to give an idea of what I was up to (I've used your image if that's ok Mike!):

Very cool "sampling" Mr. Straummy. I think Mr. Bouy (the elder) will require a transaction fee.

As I recall, of the 36 shots I took that night, only about 6 or 7 'worked', and I did manage to sell a a few prints of the best two (one of which is very much like the one I rigged up for the example above).

That's a great shot, Mike! Judging by the close up, you must live way closer to the moon than I do. It was very bright and pretty here last night. When I got home at 8:30, our neighbors were sitting around a fire in our (shared) front yard. The temperature was just great, the visit was fun, and the moon was welcome as it shone down on us. Nice evening. @ Steve: That's a great shot/s! :-)

Mike, have you thought about getting a tripod and cable release? That would likely go a long ways to be able to do extended exposures without motion blur.
