Warren/Mark - Nice to see you both again and glad your posting some great tunes! Thanks for putting your ears on this!! Grant, Phillip, Alan, Biabdude, Mark, Bapu, Mcourter, Freddie - Thanks for taking the time and commenting...I'd be fibbin' if we said we weren't encouraged and motivated by your kind words as well as rely on your technical input....so that's again! Robert - Yea we made that needed adjustment you guys suggested (pull back the guitar, and move it a tad)...again "spot on" for sure...so it made a very good difference. As far as getting a CD if you dont mind the "plug" you can get our latest here - http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/DistantTowers We'll prolly have a third hit the streets this summer and now we're working on the martial for the 4th due in '12 The cost is mainly a donation so anyone not able to afford it just IM me and I'll shoot you a CD for the bubble... Thanks again!

Great song! Sounds a bit like "America." I can hear some compression effects on the guitar. If that is what you want that is ok, but I think you can back it off a bit. Really like your bridge. Production is as slick as it can be.

Wow guys!! I really enjoyed this piece immensely. Nice 'n clean and just created a wonderful scoundscape. I found myself picking out a lot of influences (at least to my ears) I've heard over the years. Wonderful guitar hooks, and I'm complimenting you on the bass lines too Tom. The percussion has a nice spread and it was nice to hear it up front. To me, this is one of those tunes I could listen to over & over. I gotta stick the headset on as there's a nice 'trippy' quality to this... Lot's to chew on here.....

Turning this from real low to really loud on my system, it just sounds great. The only three things that stand out for me mix wise: - as stated previously, vox are buried too much
- the stick-across on the snare is just slightly too loud in the verses...maybe move it back a hair and put a slight reverb on it?
- bass is a little undefined, but that could be an artistic choice
That being said, my fav DT tune to date.

In this song for me the kick is overwhelming on my nice bassy ear buds. Would have liked this to have a little more pedal click and less boomy boxy sound. It really overwhems the song in my ear buds. That being said the rest of the tune sounds great! When the drums cut out I hear how the guitar shines. I think the whole drum bus could be backed off a tad (and I am a drummer!).

Thanks for the input on all four counts... I'll go back in and revisit the vox, X-sticks, bass and kick...Tony gave me a hint on the kick and this is a brand new Kit-mix. James I remember a few weeks ago I was thinking about the sticks (pullin them back a tad) and based on your ears I'm guessing that either I didn't make that happen..or not enough..good call. With the kit coming up in the mix this time I think it did appear to effect he bass so I'll take a peek... funny thing on the vox I was hoping they weren't too up front..again...forever needing those great ears!! Thanks gents!

Stick across is too low and gets lost at times during the verse. I would think about getting the bass under the kick, instead of fighting it out with it. It is actually a bit distracting with all that kick energy dominating the low end, without any low mid to balance it out. Or at least that is how it sounds with my sub on!

Jim, could you please explain what you mean by getting the bass under the kick? Do you mean eq-wise?

Janet Jim, could you please explain what you mean by getting the bass under the kick? Do you mean eq-wise? Yes. When you mix, you eventually have to decide whether the lowest end energy will come from the kick drum or the bass. In fast metal, for example, the bottom end and the groove is always from the bass, and the kick is super clicky, propelling the beat. In Hip Hop and most modern pop, the kick occupies most of the sub-120hz region.

Hmm..interesting. Listening here, on headphones(Sennheiser HD485's), this has a really nice balance. The bass is wide enough, and the kick focused center, so they each have their own sonic space, and I'm not picking up the conflict James mentioned. I'm not getting an overabundance of low energy, and it actually sits rather well. My guess is that James is hearing some stuff with the subs, that simply do not reproduce on my system(not great, but better than average). I'm not sure if that does you any good, but it may help target what you are trying to fix.
