UA 4FX Guitar Input Question

Just got my UA 4FX and Sonar LE.  All is working great. I was wondering how the UA 4FX guitar/mic input knob is suppose to work. I plug my guitar into the 1/4 guitar/mic input jack and use the knob to increase the input level. The only thing is it increases the clean guitar input when I increase the level.  So, if I have Guitar Rig being used as an effects/plug-in on a track, if I increase the guitar/mic input knob on the UA 4FX, I hear more of the clean input than the Guitar Rig preset sound through my headphones which are plugged into the UA 4Fx output.  Is this how this should work?  How do I get it to increase the overall input level including the Guitar Rig effects applied?

    Nevermind.  I figured it out. All I needed to do was turn the UA 4FX's monitoring switch from on to auto.
