Yes it is and its fairly easy to do. You have 2 tools that can do this in Sonar PE. V - Vocal and Audio Snap can convert audio to MIDI

But V-Vocal pretty much sucks at both pitch and timing detection (or maybe in the way it translates what it detects to MIDI), and Audiosnap ignores pitch and may have trouble detecting timing of slow attacks.

Just a fair warning: It's gonna be an uphill battle, I'm afraid.

...and violin is one of the hardest to convert anyway, because its fretless. Instruments that don't have "between-the-notes-pitches", like piano or picked guitar played without string-bending, are easier.

I still suck at Sonar!  After spending 10 minutes studying the AudioSnap dialog I can't seem to find the "convert audio to midi" button.  Is it resting on my nose?  While you are here can I also get the V Vocal steps to compare the results?  Thanks  JP

Cjays Music above indicated both audio snap and V vocal.  What are the steps used to convert audio to midi using V Vocal?

This is straight out of Sonar Help (F1) under V-Vocal/Pitch to Midi...

    V-Vocal Pitch-to-MIDI
V-Vocal is now able to convert pitch to MIDI. V-Vocal data can be dragged from V-Vocal and dropped onto a MIDI track in SONAR's Clips pane.
Pitch to MIDI Settings To open the Pitch to MIDI Settings dialog, right-click in the V-Vocal Edit pane and select Pitch to MIDI Settings from the popup menu.
There are two parameters that affect the generated MIDI data.
Pitch Bend Range--This setting is used to specify the pitch bend range to use when converting fine pitch changes to MIDI. The Pitch Bend Range value is specified in semitones and the range is 1-24. The default value is 2 semitones.
Time Resolution (ticks)--This setting is used to specify the tick interval between pitch bend events. The choices are 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120, and the default value is 20 ticks.
Use Pitch Bend--This setting specifies whether or not the converted MIDI data will include Pitch Wheel events.
To Convert Pitch-to-MIDI Click the Pitch to MIDI button and drag onto a MIDI track in SONAR's Clips pane.
A MIDI representation of the post-correction V-Vocal audio data is copied to the MIDI track.
