Anyone running 8.5.3 on a Mac?

I'm sure this have been covered, but the truth is that I don't really know how to search effectively on this forum :O)

I would like to know if anyone here is running Sonar successfully on a Macbook Pro. If so, how do you do it, and is it reliable? What Mac, and what OS? I want to use my Yamaha i88x units, but my Lenovo laptop is not playing along at all!
Thanks for any input!

    Hey Ludwig,

I'm at the point where I'm gonna buy a Macbook Pro probably within the next few days when the new range is released. To ensure that I can run Sonar producer 8.5.3 I have already ordered Windows 7 ultimate to run on the mac. This is because sonar is not coded to run on any other Operating System other than windows.

To ensure that I can make full use of the resources on the mac such as the cpu and ram, I'll be installing windows 7 in its own partition on the hard drive. Booting into windows from the start will mean that I don't have to share any cpu or ram between operating systems.

I'll let you know how I get on in the next couple of weeks once everything is set up.

    Regards

    Rodders

    Hi Rodders,

I didn't know Win 7 will do that! Is that instead of Bootcamp? I am really looking forward to hearing how that will go.

    Thanks!

I'm assuming your setting up Win7 in it's own partition to give you a dual-boot setup via BootCamp. I did this with my two-year old Core 2 Duo 13" MacBook and SONAR 8.5.3 worked better than my desktop PC- and they have the same processors. Of course you can only have either Win 7 or OS X running, and cannot share files between the two file systems (HSF+ and NTFS) unless you use a third-party program.

I found running Parallel or VMware's Fusion a bit slow on my old MacBook but it was nice to share file systems instead of one or the other. With the new Sandy Bridge i7 Quad core and two display cards (one built into the silicon of the i7 chip) any of the three options should work fantastically well. I'm waiting for my 15" MBP to arrive next week. BTW- I've heard that Win XP doesn't seem to work with the new MBPs, only Win 7 is supported, but don't take that as gospel.
