Noobie Help

Hey guys.

I'm brand new at all this, and I've had MC5 for about a week now. I've successfully recorded one song with two guitar tracks and one vocal track and was pleased with the results. The instruction manual that came with it is lacking, to say the least, btw.

That said, I started working on a new song a couple of nights ago. It's in 3/4 time, so I made that change to the project. When the metronome counts off, I start playing at the correct time, and I can see the waveforms on the screen starting and stopping when they're supposed to. However, when I click the "Stop" button, at least part of my recording shifts very slightly earlier (in time) and the very beginning of the track gets cut off. I hope this makes sense...

While typing this, I can't help but consider that it may be a latency issue (still using soundblaster or equivalent), but the sound when recording is not delayed, so I really can't believe that it's a latency issue.

I've tried quite a few things, including playing just a touch late, but nothing so far seems to work. Any help from anyone who might have an answer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

    Welcome.

What sound card are you using?

It sounds like you're on a factory card and dealing with latency.

Most of us don't start recording at the first measure. I usually don't start recording until about the fourth measure.
I don't know why your track moves back, but if you wait a few measures, at least you'll be able to drag the clip back in time with the rest of the song and nothing will get cut off.

The manual you mention...do you mean the help files? If you got something printed, it's just a getting started guide.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
