I have had a couple of friends who own coffee shops...they told me that Light Roast has the most caffeine...I was sure it would have been dark roast...shocking!

Another good note about Beatscape is that the .rex and .rx2 files seems to be working when loading Beatscape into SONAR X1 Pro X64. As I recall, Beatscape would not play the rex files in SONAR 8.5 X64 or previous versions of SONAR X64.

Mudgel:

If you would be so kind, can you expound on Beatscape as a x64 version. It seems all I can get is a 32bit version beening used in X1 X64 through BitBridge?

Agreed--great idea, lousy implementation, and worse documentation.  Shouldn't there be a cursor line that plays through the slices in editing mode?  I can't record a "performance" to a track by using the synth rack keys on screen--it only records when triggered from an outboard MIDI keyboard.  Are these design shortcomings or actual glitches in my version?

When you insert the synth check "Enable MIDI Output" then you can record the triggering of pads inside of Beatscape.

Beatscape help says you can remove slice lines, but I am not able to do it. When i click on REMOVE from the menu, nothing happens.

If I'm wrong I'm sorry about that. I really thought Beatscape was x64. i don't use it so it must have been a false memory.
The rex file support in x64 was spoken about at X1 release time as Cakewalk had just finished work on rewriting the necessary rex library for x64.

OK. It seems Beatscape is only a 32Bit Plug in.

Thanks for the info about the rex files in X1 X64, I missed that discussion that went on when X1 was first released. I'd appreciate it, if you could post a link to the thread in which that discussion took place? Or if you could remember the thread title, I could search for it. I would like to read what was being talked about.

I can't remember the thread where the discussion took place but Rex support in x64 was noted in Miscellaneous Features in Noel's Mind map here

Can't you implement some kind of threshold knob that works for the slice detection? something like in the new loop construction view. this would help a lot ;)

rx2 slices markers can only really properly be edited with recycle.

things like NI battery / kontakt etc will do that , but i think it's converting the rx2 slices back to wav.

Re:Beatscape 2012/03/10 22:32:11 (permalink)
Beatscape is a disappointment. The only real value I get out of it is the samples.

I'm finding that many of the Cakewalk virtual instruments are a big tease: they lack features/versatility, except for Rapture and Z3ta 2.
Cyclone and DS864 (Project 5) offer(ed) more useful features than Beatscape.

Cakewalk should develop/release a looper/slicer/performance tool that combines the best of Cyclone, DS864, and Beatscape and take a page from Native Instruments' patch browser implementation...which the Cakewalk Sound Center has mimicked.

Make it an exclusive for the flagship DAW version: Sonar X1 Producer Grammy Edition, Echo, or whatever the next DAW version will be called.

Nice.

That must be a favorite/popular loop from Beatscape. It's what I used when I first experimented with using it.

Check my song out.
