Projects taking longer and longer to save and open
My latest project is take a very long time to save and open. And eventually I can't open it any longer. I am using Sonar PE 8.5.3 with DimPro 1.5, SD3 and Waves 5. I have 4 softsynths in the synth rack. I tried going into the project in safe mode and that doesn't work. They hang at around 35%. So, I go back to a previous day's work and it opens fine. But after making changes it starts taking longer and longer to save and then eventually can not be reopened. Any ideas what I can do? Outside of Sonar, my PC is performing fine. Thanks, Charley

Are you saving as a CWP or a CWB?

it looks like a corrupted project to me. I think it happened to all of us once or twice. did you have the autosave function activated? you might want to look in your procect folder. if you see any autosaved version of your project, try to open this one.

I'm afraid you'd have to rebuilt the project again. at least that's what I did when it happened to me. the audio files (if you had any) are not the problem, since they'll still be available at the audio folder. the midi is. that's why i always save my midi files once I finish one. sorry buddy, bad luck! p.s there's another alternative, but i don't think you'll like it. it's very possible that some plugin is doing the trick. try to remember if you've installed any plugin lately, specially if it was a freebie and remove it. or in case you know which plugins you're using for your project now, then make a backup vst plugin folder and start the old cut and paste job. one plugin at the time. cut it from the original vst folder and paste it in the back up one. each time try to open the project. when it opens, you'll know which plug makes trouble!

I just had a thought, you say when you go back to the previous days work it opens fine, maybe try "save as" and rename the project eg. ver.2. Now after making changes to the new version see if this helps. Paul
